Of course we wore blue in one of the most important games in our history back in 1987
Why did we wear all blue anyway, seeing that Leeds were in the usual white?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWY_hlJowno

Doesn't really bother me what kit we wear. Don't know why we wore the all blue one for the Leeds decider at st Andrews. I went to all three games and at their place we wore red with black shorts. I don't actually mind us in blue.0

How tight were them shorts on that play-off with Leeds. They looked tighter than Kylie Minogue's gold hotpants. What a night. Lennie said that he thought that that was the right format for a play-off, one from each division. Winner takes all.0

Interestingly the season we came 4th bottom, the bottom 3 were Leicester, Man City and Aston Villa!5 -

Found the comments to come out of Sunderland after the game to be proper amusing...
“world class basics” “Charlton didn’t win... we lost.”
Huge WIN for us, still some big twists and turns to come and though we’re seriously in contention again it could easily go tits up with a loss at Ipswich.
It’s nice to have it more or less in our hands again. COYR!1 -

None of the sides below us could mathematically catch us and that run would include beating Lincoln which would then mean that they would have to win all their remaining 7 games to overhaul us - and they have failed to win 12 of their last 15 matches so the likelihood of them doing that is almost zero!
We just have the small matter of winning those 10 games now - or at least 9 of them because, given the right circumstances, we could even afford to lose one of the Play Off Semis. That sounds so much easier!2 - Sponsored links:

It's also such a shame that crowds aren't back - with 5 of our final 7 games left at home that could make all the difference in turning our home form around2

Blucher said:A fine, professional team performance and a big statement of intent at this stage of the season. All the results went our way and, amazingly, despite our defensive ineptitude for much of the season, we are now very much in the hunt.
I thought that we carried a threat throughout, although we found it hard to play through Sunderland's press in the first period and looked vulnerable in the early stages. I thought that Sunderland played well in that first half and we had Ben Amos to thank for going in a goal ahead. Contrary to expectations, it was a different story in the second period as they ran out of ideas and momentum, something which was graphically illustrated by Johnson introducing four substitutes around the hour mark.
We defended resolutely and Sunderland's vulnerability at the back was exploited by Stockley's flick on and Gilbey's finish, following his late run into the box. We could have had more goals: apart from hitting the post in the first half, Stockley did likewise in the second from DJ's excellent cross and only a fine, last-ditch block deep into injury time denied Gilbey a second goal.
We looked comfortable at 2-0, although Sunderland's late reply made it a nervous last 20 minutes or so by the time the ref had added on 7 minutes or so of injury time. Be that as it may, we saw the game out without any major scares for a well-deserved and vital 3 points.
We were well organised throughout, the structure and shape of the side was good, everyone knew their job and we were happy take a pragmatic approach and go long, rather than footle around at the back and get caught in possession. Amos turned in a MoTM performance, although Inniss and Pearcey weren't far behind, turning in another collectively dominant performance in central defence. Purrington and Matthews were solid and we worked well as a unit.
Apart from one aberration in the first half which nearly cost us, Pratley had a good game - sometimes weak in his use of the ball but an expert at breaking play up, disrupting the opposition and getting his body between man and ball to win free kicks. JFC was good, as were his set plays, whilst Gilbey's late runs into the box were threatening throughout and will hopefully yield another goal or two in the remaining games.
Up front, Stockley was totally dominant in the air and thankfully his second half miss didn't matter in the end. DJ and Maatsen were pacey and effective, although there is a tendency for Stockley to become a little isolated, with many of his flick ons being mopped up by defenders. He managed to bring others into play more as the game wore on and there was a good cameo from Liam Millar, who looked dangerous after his introduction.
All in all, a great afternoon's work and just how good was it to see two of our greatest managers on Valley Pass with Scott Minto. A lot of our younger supporters won't really have heard the great Lennie Lawrence speak at length and what a pleasure it was. After returning from the 1-1 draw at Chelsea (aptly described in VoTV at the time as resembling a friendly between Iran and Iraq), we knocked back a couple of bottles of champagne during a celebratory tea at my mum's in Valiant House and then went down the Valley Club for the Player of the Year do, at which Lennie delivered one of his inspirational speeches. What a great night.
Hats off to Thomas Sandgaard. He is, through this outstanding Charlton TV service, reconnecting us with our history and energising supporters - young and old - everywhere. Looking forward to Matt Holland next weekend.6 -

Any successful team starts with a tight defence, and a keeper who when called upon produces the goods. We now have this,(as we did earlier in the season)Other than the somewhat bizarre goal we let in saturday, that would have been 2 clean sheets against very good teams. We are now not poncing about at the back,we are not letting teams have free shots at our goal from just outside the box,we are defending set plays with ease,on top of this, the players actually look as if they are enjoying playing,no one will want to play us if we get to the play offs.2

I had forgotten how good it feels for your goalie to evidently win you points from a game. It's been a while. Keep that going Ben!0

To be honest, you would expect them to be biased as are we. I could see why they were saying they deserved to win, but I thought honestly we deserved to win. I may be being biased but that is football.
My view is based on us defending better than them and being better in the final third. We scored two and hit the woodwork twice away to a decent side.0 -

Blue and white are Millwall colours.
I know we have had some awful away kits but there must be a good choice somewhere between blue and white and purple/green etc!
Yellow, white, grey, black and ecru gives great scope for variety.
Would Liverpool play in blue? Would Everton play in Red?
I equally disagree with this: https://www.millwallfc.co.uk/news/2020/november/millwall-launch-202021-third-kit/
The away strip I really liked was the ecru one.0 - Sponsored links:

Sunderland had plenty of shot from outside the area
Those they had, went sailing over the bar and didnt trouble Amos

Looking at the league tables it's a very different world from the PL era. The first division table of 1988/89 had Millwall finishing 10th, with Man U in 11th just ahead of Wimbledon on gd...0 -

There was a link to a Sunderland forum a few weeks back and the top comment was something like "we shouldn't be in this crappy division with the likes of Charlton" and that had a lot of people nodding in agreement on there, which makes the win feel that little bit extra special.7

Has there been any comma on the streaming figures for the game? Did we get close to the record? I assume not otherwise I would imagine it would have been announced.0

They sold about 10500 we sold 5600 (something like that).1

I think generally there is a lot of respect between both sets of fans. They have every reason to hate us and they may have even more in May3
