Love dark side of the ring! Also recommend if you can find it (think it's on wwe network) The Rise and Fall of ECW. Proper nostalgia and lots of events I'd forgotten
The rise and fall of WCW is good as well. I have got it on DVD (I like having physical stuff) plus you get the matches.
Is that The Monday night war? That was really good
Yeah part of it, its also got the Jim Heard eara after TBS bought JCP.
As well as Black Saturday I won't tell the story for people that don't know but it’s from 1984!
Who's ready for All In then? They're finally announcing matches for it, which are piling up thick and fast, and have also changed the timings so apparently the show is 5 hours long now (5pm start 10pm curfew)
I believe that's to cover the Zero Hour part of the PPV, but as they have Adam Cole and MJF teaming up on Zero Hour, and then fighting for the title at the end of the night and they're telling people to get in for that, I suspect there will be a lot of chicanery and shenanigans afoot.

I'll be there looking forward to it but bloody hell 5 hours is a long time.
Card so far. I was expecting a 'mania type event. MJF v Cole ticks that box as it's been built for months, maybe Allin V Fox has been built for a (rushed) month or so. Rest is just thrown together. Where is Starks v Punk? Collision with us getting Punk V Joe.
Jericho/Ospreay and Young Bucks/FTR tick that big PPV box.
Confident Punk will be on the card.
I mean the lack or build ups, which is typical of AEW. Punk is on the All In adverts so i'll be shocked if he isn't there. Samoa Joe has issued him a challenge so that's the match. A rematch of something that was on Collision.
Pretty sure the only person who wants to see IWGP UK champion 😃, Ospreay v Jericho is Chris Jericho. Even Juvi was too fast for Jericho when they faced on AEW. BTW, go out of your way to see them at Superbrawl '98 or Road Wild '98.
I agree about the builds for this event, though maybe they just thought they could pack the place out without having too burn through too many storyline plans. If so, then it seems to have worked.
Their main event builds are usually pretty good for PPVs IMO. They’ve had MJF, CM Punk and Moxley in the main spots for the best part of 2 years - so it’s always been fairly consistent. It’s the random 6 man tags and insertion of Japanese wrestlers out of nowhere that doesn’t do much for me.
Do I want to be "that guy" that said I told you so earlier in this thread when it was first announced when my post got those lols for saying if Bolton/Plymouth could get 79k in the JPT then so could AEW.
Yes. Yes I think I will.
edit actually looking back nobody did lol it - I did get a "jesus" out of you though Friendordefoe page 59 and 60 on here is quite a fun read in retrospect
I don't see how WWE can sit and watch AEW sell over 80k for this and not decide to do WM over here. Make the stage set up a bit smaller, pack everyone in so it's 95k or whatever and they'll do absolutely huge numbers. Everyone that loves wrestling in Europe will try to be there, along with people who get to every WM and travel from 'Murica, they can charge whatever they like and it will sell out, easy

We've ready gone over the Jesu remark. 😉
Fair play to you, no one else saw it coming. We're pleased to be proven wrong.
I can't see them coming here in March/April unless it's Cardiff with a closable roof. Rain is scheduled for Sunday.

i'm only teasing mate it's very rare I get something even mildly right so you'll have to excuse me for gloating a little!
Bottom line it's fantastic for us as UK/European fans wanting more live wrestling content in our back yards. As was said above it would be crazy for the WWE not to also capitalise on this which can only be good for fans like you and me. I don't know what you do about the weather TBH - as you say, even in summer there's a risk of rain.

Gloat away, it was only you that called it and i'm including the podcasts i listen to.
Not only is it an outstanding achievement generally speaking, but throw in the fact that the company is only 4 years old.
When AEW was first announced as a new company, i showed little interest in following it. Never in my mind could a company come in and be a viable alternative to WWE.
In the grand scheme of things, they’ve done a brilliant job. People will always want to complain about little things here and there (too many belts, Tony Khan’s booking etc), as that’s what wrestling fans tend to do whenever they can.
But if you weigh up the initial expectation against what they’ve achieved - then they deserve a ton of credit. The Wembley show will be historic in its own right.
I was interested when it first appeared and was shocked they were filling basketball arenas. I was expecting TNA type arenas, speaking of which, could they have done Wembley Stadium? The crowds have clearly dropped and i'll be surprised if they will ever top Sunday's crowd. I see it as a peak rather than the start of something, but 80k is some peak. Khan believes AEW is the most popular promotion here which is laughable.

He’s basing that on TV ratings - which I think AEW does win out, but that’s largely because it’s on terrestrial television as opposed to TNT/BT Sport, and airs at UK friendly times.
He’s saying what he needs to say to promote the company as best as he can - nothing wrong with that.
People were saying AEW would struggle to fill the O2.
Never underestimate the sheer size of the wrestling fandom in the UK + Europe. If Indie shows are getting thousands then you can bet a brand gets 10-100 times that.

Yep, I was one of them. Happy to be proved wrong.
Though part of me does feel that the fact they are going ‘all in’ with an enormous marketing push, and Wembley Stadium, gives it that ‘I have to be there’ push.
If they came back 1-2 times a year to do Dynamite, then I don’t know if it would be O2 level. I’d hope so though.
This is going to sound very hypothetical. I said that they would nowhere near sell out AND registered for presales.
Obviously I can't speak for anyone else but I am going with someone that hasn't watched any AEW for about a year and only watch WWE sporadically. Another friend who is going doesn't watch AEW at all, but brought AEW merch before Dynamite was a thing because he wanted it to be good.
Why am I going? Not necessarily in order.
To see CM Punk and MJF, I would have said Bryan as well when I bought the tickets.
To go to a stadium show.
Because its cheap.
It's a "thing", unless your lucky enough to go to Mania you will probably never be in a wrestling crowd that big ever again.
It's in London so no hotel etc.
If it was in Birmingham, in the area, and the tickets were the same price my wife paid for the WWE house show in Manchester I 99% wouldn't have gone.
Would I buy that card on PPV, no I would either stream it or wait to watch the 4 matches I have any intrest in being ripped to Dailymotion.
TLDR: it's not really AEW that has drawn the house, it sort of is, but not because it is a great product. It isn't. Apart from collison 😉

Similar for me.i don't really watch AEW much, & haven't really followed what's going on at the moment, but I bought a ticket because the opportunity to see a wrestling show this big in the uk is very rare.
Comments
I’m not a fan of Juice/Switchblade’s characters, but that was an absolutely outstanding match.
I think Jucie and Jay will grown on you. Both great in the ring and on the mic.
Big loss, what a legend.

Expect Jarrett v Grado to be announced soon.
Tag match maybe in trouble.
