DON was one of the worst AEW PPVs Ive seen. Jericho v Cole was awful. Happy for Stat though. Brian Zane's C+ review of it is spot on.
  • Jade jobbing? 🤨

  • If you feel sorry for him now, wait until you see the main event!

Wonder if All In will have a stadium stampede?
Just finished it.  What an indyriffic outlaw mudshow bullshit fest.

At least they put JR out of his misery early on.

7+ hours of PPV/PLE and Billy Gunn and JJ were in the top 10 workers of the weekend.  Poor showing by both companies.

  • Jade jobbing? 🤨

    Total utter bullshit

    It wasn't that good!
  • I can't take anything Adam Cole does seriously. That goes for Roderick Strong, The Young Bucks and to a certain extent Wheeler Yuta too.

I feel like The Elite are too far up their own asses when it comes to booking their matches, and it all falls flat. The firework superkick was as shit as anything I've seen in a Wrestling ring, and I remember when Dean Ambrose was electrocuted by a fucking TV in a match, and Rey Mysterio having his eye apparently gouged out of his socket in another.

Tony Khan and AEW need to lay off the sparklers for a few years after that and the exploding ring shitshow
  • I think Khan likes all the indy nonsense. Uppercut with a mouth full of thumb tacks.

In brighter news, Dark Side Of The Ring is back tonight!
  • Kicking out at 2 from an exploding super kick?

Really looking forward to the Marty Janetty episode.  They could do a whole series on him!

There was a women's match on a Dynamite where someone kicked out of a piledriver off of the apron through a table and in the same match didn't tap to a chokehole with barbwire around their neck. Both were finishes on ECW ppvs and both women were able to come back with their own attacks later showing no injury.

The All Access show is also a joke.

I didn't think it was that bad.  Overall it was ok, I just think it's had a lot of bad reviews as there were a lot of botches. Jamie Hayter was obviously injured.

Jade Cargill jobbing after a 50 match winning streak was stupid, although the pop for Statlander was huge.

Jericho Vs Cole was disappointing. Expected it to be much better. I thought the 4 Pillars match was great though.

& I genuinely think MJF is already the greatest heel of all time
  • I genuinely think MJF is already the greatest heel of all time
Seriously better than peak Mr. McMahon?
  • Dark Side Of The Ring was incredible again. Candido is another WWE dropped the ball with.

Too early to make that claim about MJF. He definitely has the potential to be the GOAT. One of the reasons he's a good heel is that he doesn't break kayfabe. Don't recall him anywhere near a camera on the All Access crap.

Ok maybe the greatest of all time is a bit of a stretch, but he's a brilliant heel at such a young age.

He's such an unlikeable prick, I love it

Deffo agree there, AEW would be screwed if he left.

He is obviously a natural on the stick, he is better than Stone Cold was at that age amd possibly even the Rock.

What doesn't get enough attention is how good he is in the ring and how he is so good.

Conventional wisdom is you do "the reps" work night in night put, spot shows, house shows etc.  The guy has wreslted 50 times in the last 4 years.  He has had TWO singles matches this year!

MJF is 27, The Rock was 27 in 1999.

So he was better at the Rock at 25 then.  Generational.  If only he had someone with that could match he you would have a money match on your hands 🤔

Oh they did and it was probably the best thing on wrestling TV in 20 years.  Better than the blood line IMO.
  • I still haven't finished the experience.  7 hours of PPVs and then 8 hours of Pods reviewing them is too much 🤣🤣

I did notice whatculture gave the anarchy in the arena 5* though.

You've lost me. What was better than the Bloodline?

Absolutely MJF is better than Rocky Mavia ever was. But the way it went from that to The Rock shows how quickly things can turn. Likewise Sunny the other way around. Way too early for that kind of discussion, but he is the only reason i watch AEW and is the best thing i've seen for years.

It's far too long. I just watch the YouTube clips. There should be a minus sign in front of that 5!
  • I'm not saying he's wrong on this occasion, but I've neve heard Cornette say anything positive about AEW. What have I missed.  What's his beef with them??

It's sort of his (dull) gimmick to slate stuff, but he has said a few positive things about them. Punk's début and the Bobby Eaton tribute for example.

He does give them credit when they do good stuff.

Last summer there was a lot he liked.  He isn't a fan of competitive parkar and aggressive tumblesaults, hat on a hat gimmick matches, so many angles that everything is an angle, including Karen.

He isn't any more complimentary to WWE either.

Karen was the only good Angle Jeff Jarrett was even in.

Just watched the two PPVs from the weekend.

Night of Champions was OK. Certainly far better than Saudi shows usually are, in the sense that the matches actually had relevance to ongoing storylines. It’s a shame the Uso turn on Roman happened here, as I can imagine it was originally destined to be an all-time pop at Wrestlemania.

Double or Nothing was a weird one. Some stuff was really good, and the rest of it just didn’t land very well. Adam Cole/Jericho felt a bit too much like a normal wrestling match at times, when it was built like a blood feud. The ending felt very flat.

The World Title match and the Anarchy match were fun to watch, but if that overly performative style isn’t for you, then I can imagine it was very hard to enjoy.

I’m in total agreement that Punk vs MJF is the best wrestling program in years (followed by Ciampa/Gargano and the Bloodline).

Having Punk back will inject a lot back into the product. Yes, he’s a dick and a liability, but that still doesn’t mean I don’t want to see what happens when he gets behind the mic.
