Watching the Quest highlights, the Peterborough pitch was atrocious on Saturday, joint worst with the Newport one which is always terrible as they play rugby on it as well

I'd be amazed if their game goes ahead tomorrow

If the ground is saturated then any frost will penetrate deeper below the surface and it will take longer for the pitch to thaw, and then there will be even more water in the pitch

Leave the snow on the pitch until Saturday, then clear it before the match, the snow will act as an insulation stopping the ground from freezing.

Ground source pumps derive their energy from the ground anyway and with boilers being phased out from 2025 might be worth a look. Any spare energy could be used to provide hot water to the toilets too ...

Yes, frost mats that only work up to around -2C (they have said previously).

Keeping the soil warmer.  It’s noticeable today how quickly paths are losing their snow despite the temperature being below freezing.

“and the forecast” - really.  Currently London minimum on Wednesday night is forecast to be -8C with maximums on Thursday and Friday barely above 0C, if that.
