I think his score is probably also influenced by the fact that people were getting sick of him prior to the match due to his previous performances. Ratings should probably only be based on that specific game, but people’s general impression of a player would likely still be a factor.

He was rubbish I agree, but was Smyth any better? He barely seemed to touch the ball and never looked remotely like scoring

He was rubbish I agree, but was Smyth any better? He barely seemed to touch the ball and never looked remotely like scoring
I guess people will mark you worse if a player does something bad (I.e. misses a decent chance) compared to doing nothing at all. Who knows, it’s not an exact science. I didn’t even score the players as I was so annoyed after the match that I just wanted to forget all about it!

But if you look at GI/minutes he is almost twice as good as Doughty 🤔
