Some of the young stags (I'm not talking about adolescent Mansfield fans) on Charlton Life have been sending messages to my inbox asking if I can share Hopeful Harriet's phone number. Of course, GDPR prevents me from doing this, but Harriet has told me that she feels very flattered. Admiration for Harriet is likely to intensify, however, after scoring an outstanding 7 points this week in the Prediction League. Indeed, had Huddersfield not scored a third in added time at The New Den, her three predictions of a 2-0 win for Charlton and 2-0 defeats for Palace and Millwall would have meant a perfect score.
From all the other 128 predictors this week, there were only six correct scores and the average scored was less than one with over half failing to score any points. If you scored one point, you can be quietly complacent as you were above average this week. There were so many graveyard predictions this week. Millwall's 3-0 loss to Huddersfield fooled 55 of 56 predicting that game, while Wigan's loss to Northampton had 32 of 33 guessing wrongly. Newcastle's victory over Everton brought 1 correct prediction out of 19 and Arsenal's win at Manchester United was only expected by 1 out of 20. And, so it goes on.
