STATBANK: Portsmouth 0-2 Charlton

many thanks to the 86 Lifers who gave marks. From our 9 games in the league we have had 8 different MoM's with Inniss being the only player to have 2 such accolades, here are the stats:

I think the Amos "Foul" should be his yellow for time-wasting?

Interesting that, excluding the first game vs Crewe, the team average score has steadily risen almost every game since the start of the season, significantly so since the TS takover. We're an average of 2 points higher than we were at game 2, and 1.5 higher than game 3!

The more this team gels the more impressive the performances have become, I wonder what our highest team average will be ...

I like how apart from the start / end of games we're spreading the timing of when we're scoring

thanks Pedro, of course it isn't a foul just a yellow, Have corrected the table accordingly

I'd forgotten we didn't have a single corner in the match!

I'm stunned we're only 2nd in the form table, but it seems Posh have the same points haul and better GD

I'll add this here, as I know people like this sort of thing.  I'll try and put it in every game going forward.

    After 9 games

    2020/21 19 points 11 goals scored goal difference +6

    2018/19 17 points 13 goals scored goal difference +4

For interest the goal machine Lyle Taylor had scored 3, including a pen.

Our 10th match was a Desmond at Luton with Solly banging in a 95th minute equaliser.

Grant had scored 5 by that stage though!

When the lowest ranked player is a tad under 7, you know the team is turning into a well oiled machine. Plus two subs come on in Aneke and Smyth and combine for the goal.

It's feels like our strength will be the squad this season, and not relying on one or two individuals.

    ^^ This ^^
Carry on the good work Lancs.
    ^^ And definitely this ^^

It can't be an easy job doing this, especially with midweek matches most weeks this season, but it's fascinating to see the trends develop, not only in what's happening with the performances on the pitch but everyone's perception of it with their match-by-match ratings.

He had but I used Taylor because he was here for the whole season AND scored 21 league goals.

Spoiler alert Taylor only scored 2 more from open play before Grant left.

What struck me initially was seeing Washington bottom and thinking, but he had a decent game. Then looking up the list, they all had decent games. That is a very good thing to have.

Despite being greedy and wanting another striker, I'm confident that Washington will be close to a 1 goal in 3 games and emulate his record in League 1 at Peterborough.

We won't create as many chances as Posh, but if the hard working Washington can Score 12 in 36 League matches that will be fine considering (so far) we are set up to keep clean sheets and nick a goal or 2 at the other end. With the rotation system I'm not sure if Conor will play more than 36, but lets hope he is fit enough to play that figure and even more.

With Aneke it will be goals to minutes played rather than games. I had hoped Chuks would be turned into a number 9 as he could be our version of Kieffer Moore; another big unit who scored quite a few in League 1.

Who was the comedian on CL who said Chuks was poor in the air a month ago ?  With Aneke and Inniss we should continue to be dangerous from set pieces and quality crossing.

    15/16 1st 87 2nd 85
    16/17 1st 100 2nd 86
    17/18 1st 98 2nd 96
    18/19 1st 94 2nd 91
    19/20 1st 67 2nd 62

Obviously last season wasn't finished. You would be very unlucky to not go straight up on 90+ points.  Which is a shade under 2 points a game.

Surely the important number is what 3rd ended up with because that’s the team you need to finish above.

For example 17/18 looks really tough with the top two on 98 and 96 but 3rd (Shrewsbury) got “only” 87 points which would’ve meant 88 was enough for autos that year.

90 takes you up, 73 should get you in the play offs.

What strange logic. If the 3rd team, Shrewsbury, had got 88, they would still only have been 3rd and 2 teams got 98 and 96! Target of 90 or 92 looks realistic. In my mind I will take 92 at this stage which at 2 per game is easy to calculate. I'm sure everyone would have bitten their hands off to be ahead of that target at this stage.
