When tv had less channels and was more innocent as a lad I used to see a fair bit of Bryant and Allcock on Grandstand. RIP to a true legend, albeit in a minority sport.

Shame that no modern sportsman has a pipe wedged in his mouth.

Agreed. Remember watching him doing a mini Ali shuffle which meant he was sending down a speed bomb to shatter the pack. Used to love seeing that as a kid on Grandstand.

Likewise. They were household names in those days. RIP
I'm sure my Grandad will be welcoming him for a game. My dear departed was a club president, secretary, etc at Pope's Mead Bowling Club in Crawley for years. They had many happy tournaments home and abroad. For a bunch of ageing folks they had great times and sank a few pints along the way. Always seemed a gentleman's (and women's) sport.
Both my old man and my grandad were into their bowls in later life. I'd like to think they're having a roll up with David on the great green in the sky somewhere.

Everyone knew the names Bryant and Allcock at the time.

A very genial and likeable chap was David.
Great bowler, sad day. Hope there’s a bowling green wherever he ends up.
RIP a legend of the sport.
hated when Alcock started to take over from Bryant.

RIP David.
