In the year 2025...Charlton Athletic will be...

edited April 2020 in General Charlton
In 5 years from now....where will we be

A)

Shut up Dave. It's likely we will be in admin soon. I think the club would have completely sunk in the sea by then and with no possibility to return.

B.)

League one, mid table.

Roland lost his quid but has returned to being the clubs owner.
He casually graffitied his own house again after sleep walking. Calls up Jim white via talksport for a casual routine like moan.

We sold our best player the previous January for shrug ya shoulders £3million.

C)

Premier League relegation scrap. We just about stayed up.

We are owned by the EFL. Dean Kiely is our manager. (You can't predict any future. Always a random but relevant name)

D)

In the Championship, just below midtable. Millwall did the double over us...again. same shit, different day.

E)

Afc Charlton. Close to being promoted to league 2.

Charlton Athletic have completely vanished. We only have our history....but the fans have stuck together and AFC Charlton it now is.

F) Other.

Explain in full detail what your genuine prediction is.

If it's a positive outcome of a story, then let's hope you are right.

Let's face it...any future will always have a unpredictable side to it.

Nothing is ever really "typical"

Oh...the future.

What is going to happen. Where will we be...in 5 years?

At the moment... everything is awful.

The 5 year thing is a big leap and time will always most likely be the one thing that dramatically changes stuff.

You just...don't know.

    Variation of E...

A block of overpriced new-build flats are currently being erected at the now-demolished Valley, although some of fancy part of the East Stand structure has been kept as a nifty little period feature. Fortunately for the developers the car park didn't need a whole lot of digging up.

Fans of AFC Charlton have raised enough money to rent half of the Sparrows Lane site off of Ol' Man Duck Tape for the next 5 years to use as a home ground. He is fuming that he's still not got shot of the place and continues to rant on the (now derelict) cafc.co.uk website about the EFL, but his club statements fall on deaf ears. Our away kit is the colours of our recent protest shirt and Bowyer is managing Leeds as they continue to attempt to escape the Championship - meanwhile we are rising steadily up the Isthmian leagues.

The other half of the training ground (the building and rest of the land) is becoming a >£100 per month newly renovated Nuffield Health gym and spa. It's always empty.

Floors of the Valley Mews complex are to be named unironically after former Charlton legends to sell the history of the site to first-time buyers on a drastically subsidised housing scheme. This was put together by our New-New Labour government and allows buyers to pay £1 for the flat and the rest when they can prove their source of funds. If you fail the housing association's proof of funds test (long after having moved in), you are penalised by not being allowed to buy any more furniture.

Meanwhile, Millwall - in their 'Really New Den' are playing in the Champions League semi-finals behind closed doors after drawing another bunch of oiks in the Quarters and taking part in a 32,000 fan brawl.

I think some of that is fairly likely

E if Dushitelet does what I have thought he always wanted, retain The Valley for land development.
B if Dushitelet gets us out of the poo and sells at a reduced price.

Charlton Athletic will live forever, but it will always be insane. That's our role in English football now. The permanent basket case bouncing from one comedy owner to another with increasingly outlandish issues cropping up. There will be the occasional Guardian article about how Charlton can no longer play on Sundays because the circus troupe that bought us in exchange for a bag of maize (which they're still yet to provide) has rented The Valley out for trapeze practice, and people will glance at the article title, say 'remember when Charlton used to be in the Premier League. That Alan Curbishley eh!' and continue on with their lives. We will still be on here complaining about our owners, arguing over house analogies and photoshopping pictures of our owners onto pop culture references. Golfie will still be miserable.

With deep regret, A or E.

I would bite your hand off for B at the moment.

E, but lower than one promotion from league two.
We’ll be ground sharing tenants of Blackheath RFC at the old poly ground.

    Other.

We go into admin, points deducted and relegated in the "season that never finished".

We are bought out by a left field party, patched up and consolidate our position, losing in the semi final of the playoffs, rebuild the team and finish champions of League 1, not a dominant display by any means but a glimmer of hope. We then spend the next couple of seasons slowly building up our team, Jason Euell is manager and our academy is finally pushed through as Category 1, meaning we don't lose our best youngsters for pennies. Lapslie is our captain and beating heart of the midfield, we sell floppy blonde wigs by the bucketload every home game. We finish the league in 5th place, Millwall finish 4th, Leeds 3rd and Sunderland 6th. We lose to Millwall 2-0 in the first leg and everyone knows what's coming. But the second leg, we win 3-1 to take it to extra time, and beat them on penalties! Millwall still maintain that playoff games don't count, penalty wins don't count and we still haven't beat them in the league but we don't care. Elsewhere, Bowyer's Leeds have fallen to Sunderland, and yet again fate has thrust us into a Wembley faceoff with the Black Cats....

Something like E. though not necessarily that close to League 2. I really do hope we have the imagination to call it something better than AFC Charlton though.

If we're in the conference then think of all the new teams and grounds we can visit.

Harrogate, Solihull, Borehamwood, Woking, Dover and the big local derby against Bromley/Welling/Dulwich.

We would probably beat Millwall in a pre-season friendly though

Administration, docked 12 points and relegated this year. Fall out of that is we lose our core players and suffer a further relegation to L2 where we are still battling to escape in 2025.
