Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall has threatened strike action if the Championship season was cancelled without promotion or relegation.
"If they null and void the season, I'd strike 100%," Worrall, 23, told BBC Radio Nottingham.
"We are in the play-off spots and doing so well for goodness sake. It's non-negotiable, they can't null and void the season."
Awe bless you cosseted moneyed up spoilt sportsman you...
Well said ... too many of these footballers have no fucking idea of what so many people are going through ... total tossers.
Think Joe needed to watch the beginning of News at 10 tonight. The piece from Addenbrookes Hospital was harrowing.
  • When it’s back you’ll be back, you can’t just fall out of love with it.
It happens. My Dad stopped going in 2006 said Sky has ruined football and not been to a game since.
  • "We can't talk about winning the League because there's still a long long way to go" a Liverpool fan was quoted as saying pre the suspension of games..

"They can't bloody abandon the League. Everyone knows we would have won it!" said the very same fan the following week

What exactly is he threatening here - that if the cancel the season he’s going to withdraw his labor and refuse to play in the games that have been cancelled?

Of course, he won’t get paid in that case, although his teammates will get paid for not playing in those games because they are not on strike.
  • Football used to be about the fans, but now it is about the money and the power. The clubs at the top of the pyramid will not allow that to change. You can't have relatively small clubs like Nottingham Forest beating them to glory because they are well managed. Ultimately, they like the fact that the best players get paid an obscene amount as it is what puts them out of reach. They can afford them, rivals can't.
  • Football clubs have spent years doing as they please.
Now, bound (sort of) by government advice they don’t like it. It’s the first time they’ve ever been told what they can and can’t do.
    Completely unprecedented times.
  • One idea that has been put forward is a points-per-game model, weighted by whether those games were home or away:

Mental how there can even be talk of implementing a never used before system to end a season. Either end it when you can, or scrap it completely. Nothing else is fair.

    Fortunately it's all cobblers.

How can you change the rules of a competition midway through?

There's no way West Ham and Villa would accept relegation from the PL and the financial devastation it would cause, based on an algorithm!
