Most overrated films

The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring

The Revenant

The Shape of Water

Three critically acclaimed films I really struggled with - possibly just down to subject matter.

I sometimes think you have to be in the right mood to see certain films.

    Get Out.

Awful film but 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. Why?

Not a film but, Peaky Blinders

    Get Out. Awful film.
Massively overhyped - not especially original.

I really liked Get Out, but quite frankly I tend to just take films at face value, and the sub text is usually lost on me.

I also liked Fight Club, but really didn't get as excited as plenty of other people did

    Trainspotting.

With the Shape of Water, a lot of people say that it's the worst film in memory to win Best Film.

Plus it ripped of the Tom Hanks film Splash:

Titanic......a classic Hollywood example of how to fuck up a wonderful subject matter, they turned it into a unbelievable fairy story......actually walked out in disgust shortly before the end.

Shit mate, so predictable yet everyone went on about the twist.

Silver Linings Playbook. I watched it with my earphones and 30 minutes later my ears were ringing. I couldn't stand the constant dialogues and gave up.

Jordan Peele's follow-up, Us, is probably the worst film I've ever seen.

Lord Of The Rings - Quite ironic it's about 4 odd hours long as I switched it off after about 2 minutes

I had to sit through the entire thing in the cinema - felt like it lasted for days.

Though I enjoyed The Shape of Water it certainly wasn't worth the best picture Oscar.  Guillermo del Toro made some pretty disturbing monster movies early in his career but Shape of Water was conventional, pedestrian and safe compared to Pan's Labyrinth.

I can't believe Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has been nominated for best picture Oscar.  It's typical self-indulgent Tarantino, stroking himself over Hollywood nostalgia, and nothing really happens apart from the pornographically violent ending.  The story, what there is of it, could all have been easily told in 90 minutes rather than the interminable three hours it took.

I didn't know it was a comedy before I watched it, and still didn't after watching it.
