Just prior to something like my ninth birthday, I invented a game that was loosely based around bowls which involved rolling a marble across a carpet to a target that was blocked by bricks. I can't remember the exact rules, but I know that after much practice that I fancied my chances to win a knock-out competition on home carpet which the boys coming to my party would be forced to take part in. Needless to say, I lost narrowly in the first round and hated the party. Many years later, I find myself leaving the Prediction Knock Out Cup in the 2nd Round and wondering why I invented such a silly competition.
With much less sulking (though still a very small amount) than when I was nine, I can report that there were a few shocks in the Prediction Knock Out Cup.
@Sonicstud85, who is in the top half of the Premier League, suffered a surprise 3-0 home defeat to League 2's
@Covered End while
@uboat from the Championship suffered a 6-1 drubbing from National League's
@56yearsofdreams.
@thai malaysia addick (now worryingly in Charlton's league position) succumbed to plucky non-Leaguers
@bellz2002 and deservedly head through to the 3rd Round. In the big clash
@Paddy Powell ran out 2-1 winners away to
@No.1 in South London.
In the Johnstones Paint, there were not too many shocks although
@IdleHans may have called his squad in on Sunday morning after a 3-1 defeat away to National South opposition in the shape of
@Killarahales.

The players were made to walk from the Thames barrier to the Valley wearing sackcloth and being whipped by peasants on Sunday morning and I have left them in no doubt that Saturday's performance was not acceptable. The fans who made the journey to watch that will have their travel costs reimbursed.
