So Williams in for Gallagher with Oztumer on the bench

Only six subs though unless there isnt room on the team sheet?
  • Options
No Cullen, but at least we have a few more options from the bench. Expect Oztumer will come on for Williams at some point.

And Solly - Surely you'd have him on the bench rather than one less player?

THE OS has this to say:

Jonny Williams will return to the starting lineup for today’s game against Preston North End.

The attacking midfielder hasn’t started a game for the Addicks since limping off in Charlton’s 3-0 win over Derby County in October.

Fans supporting the club from abroad can watch the game on Valley Pass and the Valley Pass app. Fans in the UK can listen to the game in the company of Charlton commentators Greg Stubley and Terry Smith. Click here for more information.

Williams is the only change from the Addicks' team that drew with West Bromwich Albion last week. The Wales international replaces Conor Gallagher who was recalled from his loan with the club by Chelsea during the week.

There is also a place on the bench for Erhun Oztumer, who hasn’t featured, through injury, since the Addicks played Sheffield Wednesday in November.

Charlton are expected to play the same 3-5-2 formation with Dillon Phillips starting in goal and the defensive trio of Tom Lockyer, Deji Oshilaja and Naby Sarr in front of him.

Adam Matthews and Alfie Doughty will again operate as wingbacks with Darren Pratley and Ben Dempsey manning the midfield.

Williams is likely to play behind the front two of Josh Davison and Andre Green, starting against the club he was on loan at earlier in the season.

The versatility of Williams and Green means the Addicks could move to a 5-4-1 during the game.

Oztumer is joined on the bench by Ashley Maynard-Brewer, Jason Pearce, Ben Purrington, Albie Morgan and Tomer Hemed.

Charlton: Phillips; Lockyer, Oshilaja, Sarr; Matthews, Pratley, Williams, Dempsey, Doughty; Green, Davison

Substitutes: Maynard-Brewer, Pearce, Purrington, Mogan, Oztumer, Hemed

    What's happened to JFC?
Would have been good to see him starting ahead of Dempsey. With 6 subs, guess something happened to JFC in the lead up to the game?

How many goals have that starting line up got between them so far this season?

To be fair I've no complaints about the starting line up - For 60mins Dempsey didnt disgrace himself and now it seems that JFC has had a potential set back

Would have been very disappointed had Davison been swapped for Hemed after his performance last week, he's there on merit for me

Great day for Williams to score his first Charlton goal.

A bit concerning to see no Cullen or JFC.

Hope there haven't been any setbacks.

And how many goals on the bench?

Got to be a setback. Bowyer's press conference basically said he was playing.

Only six subs and no Solly.

Slowly getting players back but still missing eight or nine.

Three former Addicks in the Preston team.

    PNE 0 - 1 CAFC (Davison)

    UP THE ADDICKS

Am travelling to visit friends this afternoon, and will probably only be popping into this thread intermittently, so will be even more grateful than usual for the updates. On the plus side, I've just seen a robin on the wall outside my flat on my way out, so hopefully that's a good omen. 😊

In a way am glad Cullen is not involved, would feel very rushed him back already.

Got no concern about Cullen missing, he's only just back so no point rushing him

Must be a good chance Green will score for us today.

With Scott Sinclair | Patrick Bauer | Declan Rudd scoring for them? ;)

No sympathies get rid of Page and JFC. Can't afford to carry these malingerers. FFS.

No Morgan or Solly. LB playing games against & giving out a stark message to MS like he did to RD up at the Stadium of light last season.

Glad we can count on our returning players to get us out of trouble......not. (JFC)

I don't think we're surprised to see that Cullen is not in the squad.
He's so vital for the rest of the season, they won't want to risk him until he's proven ready.

Like others, surprised to see JFC not there - really thought he'd start today and play an hour.

    Harsh on Forster-Caskey!!

Was out for a year and came back into playing regular football too quickly (thanks to injuries) so got a hamstring injury

Until Bowyer says otherwise there could be any number of reasons for him missing today
What is it then 5 appearances in 20 months?

2 (x1 Doughty vs Bristol C, x1 Davison vs WBA).

Or 3 if you count Lockyer's goal from last weekend.

EDIT: Forgot Naby the goal machine... x3 Sarr (Derby, Hull, QPR) makes it 5 goals.

    What about Sarr
