Enjoyed Football Focus piece on Union. Been to Berlin couple of times but never to a game. Anyone know anything more about the club from first hand experience?
I knew nothing about them but my favourite bar here is run by a Bayern Muenchen glory hunter. I got friendly with another patron, a Union Berlin supporter, and he sold me on them. Eisern Union! Eisern Union! A real fans club like they all used to be before big money took over.

Went to a game there and at Hertha a few years ago. Really enjoyed Union. Felt like a nice family club with great atmosphere. I think in the DDR days they were the ordinary club, not linked to the government and Stasi. They were mid table in the second tier at the time, so I could pay on the day. I would say it's harder to get tickets now.
If I was in Berlin again, I would definitely go to Union. I found Hertha boring and wouldn't bother if they were at home.
