2019/20 Championship games

  • Leeds are virtually guaranteed the Championship. 6 points ahead with only 2 games left and a significantly better gd. A point this weekend makes them champions so hope they all go out on the piss and have massive hangovers Wednesday. No crowd must be a big advantage to us on this one.
Brentford have the superior GD - If they win their last two games and Leeds lose their last two games (great for us) then Brentford of all teams take the title

And I only say that last bit because Leeds and West Brom were so clear it was ridiculous to think in January that someone else would win the League
  • Our only chance is if Hull vs Luton is a draw or somehow we nick a point but don't see that happening as we have no fight
Whats so wrong with Luton or Hull wining if we get a draw ourselves?

We stay ahead on Goal Difference
Because if its Luton who win they have Blackburn in the final game

A Blackburn side who have had 2 wins and 4 defeats since restart

A Blackburn side who lost to Barnsley

If you don't think Luton can get a better result from Blackburn than we get from Leeds then thats ridiculous

No way do I want to be going into the final game on level points with Luton
  • Funnily Fulham can get within two points of them tomorrow

If Brentford lose themselves tomorrow then Fulham can go into the last day of the season knowing that a win for them on the final day could see them pinch second too

Depends how Fulham want it but even if Brentford win tomorrow

Fulham may want to win the next two and so avoid Nottm Forest in the Play-Offs if West Brom mess up on the final day

Now let me think... Who do Fulham play on the final day?
After winning every game for as long as i can remember, there's no way Brentford are not taking 4 points from Stoke and Barnsley to seal promotion.

Premier league in their new stadium.

Okay so Luton finish ahead of us... what about Wigan | Barnsley | Hull?

Oh and Charlton getting a better result v Leeds over Luton v Blackburn isnt ridiculous, thats just Football

Its the unpredictability that everyone seems to be ignoring

Yeh providing they get nothing from the last game as do you realy see us getting anything from leeds

Well if one of them wins tomorrow (and we dont) and then win on Wednesday then there are still three teams below us

As I've said already on this thread its a damned risky approach as you have to take into account how unpredictable Football is, but it still gives us a chance

If they've already won the league, yes
  • Congrats Leeds_Addick, listen to the advive and stay home tonight, do not travel to Elland Road to celebrate.
Have mates there who will no doubt have a great weekend. After so many years of shite it’s a shame that they can’t really celebrate and no one will be at the first game back. I did enjoy them being in the championship though and even more so because of our recent record against them.

Be delighted for them on that basis, be sad for them too as their fans wont be there for the first game

    Leeds promoted as it stands
Excellent... Has turned our game against them into a dead rubber
I like your faith FA, but I still cannot see us winning
As things stand we dont have to win another game

Yes its extremely risky but its the truth
So you'd take a draw then tomorrow? Luton have Blackburn at home on the last day, very winnable.

Worst case scenario... Yes I would take a draw

If we win then I'm going to be more delighted than anyone on here but I'm one of the few left that has continued to believe that we'll survive

Lose and I'll finally agree, we'll be in a desperate situation come Wednesday evening

As for the second half of your comment I'm not going to keep repeating myself
  • West Brom might pay the price for not beating us home or away.

    Unfortunately, we are totally predictable

Im glad Huddersfield won as it now draws more teams into the relegation fight.
Quite possibly the most ridiculous post ever
  • Luton will get 6 points from there last 2 games. 4 at least.

They've recorded back to back wins just twice this season

I reckon they'll get four points from these two games

We're in a desperate situation now ffs! I believe we can get a result tomorrow, but we're really fucked if we draw imo.

There's a chance, just a chance, that he wasn't being serious.
  • I'm still gobsmacked that we can actually get out of this after some dreadful performances this season.. . Tomorrow though has to be our best of the season to win unless Wigan have a complete off day and are absolute pony...

Think we played them in their last Prem game, 3-3 draw if I remember correctly - they were already relegated.  I was there and remember them invading the pitch with Alan Smith being held aloft by the pitch invading hordes - only for him to sign for Man United a few weeks later! Atmosphere was incredible that day.  We will play them in their final non-Prem game. I just hope it is another dead rubber.

How can we be in a desperate situation when its in our hands?

Jeez get more OTT comments on here than from my wife!!
Mainly because we're a team with a lack of quality who are low on confidence. Oh and we're playing the best team on form at the moment next and the best team in the league last game! We're gonna have to agree to disagree here mate.

Yeah fraid so because at some stage that good run has to end - Might not be against us because of our struggles in front of goal but Football has a habit of being unpredictable all too often so have to believe we can get something tomorrow

If we dont then I'll go into the Leeds game with the exact same attitude - Sometimes I just dont know when to give up
  • See what happens when you attack teams & not sit back.
Assume you weren’t watching the match.

Their goalkeeper was booked for time wasting about 10 seconds before the goal!
They still got forward.......unless their goalkeeper scored direct from the goal kick...🤔. No, I distinctly remember their player scoring from inside West Broms penalty area.

Whereas we didn't get past the half way line for the last 10 mins.
So then we can assume you weren’t watching our match when we broke away twice but first, hit the post and second, Bonne had a shot saved from inside the six yard box. Which was it? Or are you holding us to different standards? 🤔

The difference in tactical approach between us and Huddersfield was zero. Their bloke scored, ours didn’t. Sh*t happens.

  • Brentford have the superior GD - If they win their last two games and Leeds lose their last two games (great for us) then Brentford of all teams take the title

Thanks FA, totally misread the gd poison, of course at the top it is a plus total not minus which we deal with at the bottom!

Posted this in the league table talk thread, thought it might help reset some of the doom and gloomers on here...

So it’s three from five, two from four if you’re discounting Barnsley and their incredibly tough fixtures.

All four are playing another team in the mini-group tomorrow. We are two points ahead of the pack which puts us in a relatively strong position.

Win tomorrow and we are guaranteed to be safe. That is not true for any of the other three teams.

A draw isn’t the worst result but it does leave the door open for Wigan plus one other (both if they draw) to jump above us if they get a result from their last game.

A loss will be painful. Pray for a Hull/Luton draw if that happens.
