We will win the Final again one day... Thats the third Final we've lost on the trot now
Credit to the whole setup though, 2018-19 is the only year we've failed to make the Play-Offs1 -

I've no massive complaints about the penalty award, as the ball wasn't hit strongly at our player, but the non award of a foul in the build up to their second was poor.4

Real shame, good game spoilt by having a pen shoot out, we deserved to be well out of sight before they equalised, well done one and all...1

Well played the young'uns for getting all the way to the final. They have done our club proud. I didn't get to watch but sound massively unlucky we did not go on to win.
In the next few days some of these lads will have their dreams realised as they sign their first pro contracts but some will sadly no doubt be released. A tough time and I wish them all well.

Very dodgy penalty and a non deserved corner gave them something they never deserved, a sniff at a result, terrible ref, and to top it all a penalty shootout, at least we scored the only legitimate goals, well worked and well deserved...

My take on it was that once we went 2-1 up in et, we were pulling out every trick in the book to waste time and once the ref cottons on to that, you rarely get anything from them, so I wasn't surprised he didn't give a foul. I really hated seeing our lads doing this shit, instead of just playing their game.

I've just arrived back from a very sunny & warm Barnsley, both sides seem to suffer under the conditions, probably the warmest day of the year so far.
I sat with @Fanny Fanackapan & her husband & i can assure @CharltonAthMuseum that they obtained a team sheet for you.
We were very unfortunate to lose the game, but it was a very even game & Barnsley probably had a couple of decisions go for them.
There was a quite a good turnout from the Barnsley supporters & it would have been interesting to see if we could have matched that support if we had been at home.9 -

Well, what's left to say after reading those very pertinent posts. SO pleased that you all watched the match and your thoughts as each phase was past, summed up our feelings in the Stand.
Sat with Clive as we did at Hendon which was great - lots of exchanges on how things were going & overall agreed it was a pretty tight game with 2 pretty equal teams.
Barnsley were very "full on" from the first whistle & several of their lads were giving us some difficult moments, including our Zach who had his hands full for once. But we battled away & gave as good as we got.
Couldn't really see the hand ball which led to their first goal but there was still the majority of the game to get back on track, which we did with the equaliser.
Then Pat Casey's sublime header put us on the front foot for the first time and it was a question of whether we could hold on....but as soon as their BFG, no 15 entered the field of play, we had a feeling his presence could be crucial....And so, with the assistance of the ref ( I thought he'd given the wrong decision), it came to pass as the tallest player on the pitch, barring their 'keeper, was always going to be favourite in that area.
But, TBH, penalties were written in the stars....7-6 maybe, we wondered ?
It hurts me to admit it, but it looked as though the Reds had been practising for yonks, as all were well taken, giving Kone no chance. However, I thought our young 'keeper had performed superbly throughout the extended match so he had nothing to blame himself for.
However, as young Enslin stepped forward, surprise was etched over our 3 faces due to his inexperience compared with that of others who hadn't seemingly put themselves forward, and sadly, it WAS Michael Gray part 2. Their giant 'keeper was the hero of the hour, despite the fact he could have saved that final pen with his eyes shut. Such a shame for our brave, battling lads.
All 22 players were dead on their feet at the end, although Barnsley had made more substitutes than Charlton so had some fresher legs on show when energy was a blessing in the latter stages. Young Henry Rylah was inconsolable with several of the management staff & his fellow players trying hard to comfort him at the end. Maybe he knew he would have taken one of the pens had he not been injured & subbed....who knows but in Doris' words que sera sera...as the Barnsley fans were singing last night.
REALLY pleased we decided to go though as it was an entertaining game with free parking & entry , and I look like I've had another week in Tenerife ! As I've posted before, this season it's been an absolute joy to watch our U21s and the few U18s games we've seen whilst our 1st team have left a lot to be desired at times. These lads give their all, leave nothing behind and are our future. SO proud of them all !
Bless their cotton socks ! Can't wait to support them again come August.31 -

Glad you enjoyed it Jean, a long way to go for a U18 game albeit a national final, all credit to you and this Addicks that made the journey.

Btw Hobden got out second, the commentator mistakenly reported it was Casey and then corrected herself later. Both our goals were a credit to a good footballing side, albeit we nearly undid ourselves a few times trying to play silly balls out from the back. Now for a fourth title 😊2 -
