He’s a god in Naples, mainly due to the way he has adopted a true Neapolitan way of life and the fans have admired him for that. Recently overtook Maradona in the goal scoring records for Napoli too and I believe he is just 2 behind Hamsik for the all time lead (in little over half the number of games Hamsik played).
BUT, there is so much unrest behind the scenes at Napoli atm with players and staff rebelling against some of the owners decisions and now there are rumours Mertens is playing his last year in Naples. A deal with Inter Milan has been speculated for the summer. At 32 this is probably his last chance to move too0
