Rivalries, which side of the fence?

In the pub yesterday, with unfortunately a rather smug Spuds mate. Got us talking about rivalries, personally I've always preferred Arsenal to them, not sure why, maybe it's the red, maybe because they started on the right side of the river or maybe because my first game was Arsenal Vs Charlton. Anyhow, is it just us - or do you have a definite preference for one side of a rivalry that has nothing to do with Charlton?

For me:

Arsenal v Tottenham - neither 
Man City v Man Utd - nowadays since the money and my dislike towards the Gallagher brothers its more likely Man u. 
Everton v Liverpool - i have a real dislike towards Everton. the atmosphere at Goodison is appalling and i find them a bit of a nothing side so i'll support Liverpool. 
Newcastle v Sunderland - play off final beats the likely lads. go with Sunderland. 
Southampton v Portsmouth - Southampton 
Villa v Birmingham - neither 
Forest v Derby - Forest 
Rangers v Celtic - at a push i guess Rangers. 
Real v Barca - Barca

Arsenal - good mate is ST holder and I've been a few times with him. I have to keep reminding him I don't hate Spurs (just like he does to me re Palace)

not really bothered on the rest. The younger me would have gone for Celtic over Rangers just because of the assumed politics but I've since met enough decent Rangers fans (and arsey Celtic ones) to be neutral.

Villa over Birmingham - No contest. There's no way I want the Millwall of the midlands to beat anyone - unless they are playing the Millwall of the south.

Arsenal over Tottenham - Arsenal, cant abide Tottenham fans, self entitled shits.
Man City over Man Utd - Cant stand either, Man United are the parody of a glory boys club, and City are the Chelsea moneybags of the north. I guess City just shade it over Utd.
Everton over Liverpool -  Liverpool, Kloop is a breath of fresh air, and Everton are the John Major of football clubs, grey and boring as fuck...
Newcastle over Sunderland - Sunderland 1998 and all that.
Southampton over Portsmouth - Southampton, Portsmouth have the bell ringing bellend.
Villa over Birmingham - Birmingham, used to sponsor games so went along.
Forest over Derby - Forest - Clough.
Rangers over Celtic- None its Scottish football and its all shiite.
Real over Barca- Barca, cos I like the seaside.

Got no strong feelings either way concerning those clubs. My preference tends to be towards the underdog though or the one with the best football, most likeable players and manager etc

e.g. when City were rubbish I really liked them and their fans for supporting them instead of Fergie's United, whereas now they are filthy rich and winning "everything" they're just another one of the monied giants.

Have you read the Sid Lowe book about the rivalry between Real and Barca? Busts a few myths on the Franco's favourites bit and was a good read.

Thanks, I'll look it up.  There is no argument, however, that Franco's regime tried to deny the Catalans the use of their own language and suppressed their culture.
