My 6 year old has managed to disable his iPad, tried all the online tips like a restore or reset but iTunes is not downloading the software and keeps dropping out, anyone know how to do a hard factory reset?

Hold the off button (side) and the button on the front together that should do it.0

I’m not an Apple specialist or anything, but this would be my process:
* Turn your internet router completely off and on again.
* When everything’s back online, make sure your computers operating system is up to date with any software updates.
* Specifically make sure that any iTunes updates on your computer are downloaded and installed.
* Connect your iPad to the computer.
* Presuming your computers iTunes software ‘sees’ the iPad, then access the iPads settings, general, reset, erase all content and settings.
* iPad should return to new / blank status, and you then have to set it up from scratch.
If after that it’s still dropping out after 5min, then I’d be stumped too.1 -
Make an appointment at an Apple Store Genius Bar, it's free and they can sort most things out straightaway. I have used them loads.2

and in case you don't recognise me, I'll be wearing 3 button waistband 24" flared trousers, 3" stacked heels with a brass insert on the toecap. 😜😜0 - Sponsored links:
