Crap performance, all looked leggy and lacklustre, Fosu back to his worst for us, never passing quickly and giving the ball away in dangerous positions, Pratley, despite the goal, looked pretty poor and wasn't a worthy replacement for Aribo. Need another player who can create things from a deeper position, Fosu and Reeves really let us down in that regard

It seems we started slowly, changes made with Grant & Marshall coming on, equalised ..... and then conceded late, when their player was allowed time and space on the ball.

First things first - hope their 23 is okay as that looked nasty. More to follow.

So many shit performances. There was no shape to the midfield and absolutely no width anywhere on the pitch

Could name half the team but I'll reserve this comment for Fosu, his performance today was absolutely criminal.

Love Taylor but he should have done better with the break away, if Ajose had had the same heavy touch the crowd would have gone apoplectic.

We've been in a great run and 7 wins from 9 is great, but that's the second time this month I've travelled away to watch us lose in the last minute and right now I am absolutely seething.

    This.

Should never have taken Bielik off. Chucking a kid on to help us hold the game is not going to help him develop.

    We were shit
Coventry lacked quality but had a lot of fight and running
Liked their RB. Looked like Dijksteel but with attacking intent. Think they have him on loan from Chelsea.

Get us Cullen and Aribo back and we’re all good for playoffs.

First thing to remember is we had won 7 out of 8 during an on going injury crisis with an inspirational but rookie manager.

We missed an opportunity today but there is plenty to play for, so lets not over react!

Real difficult to think of any postives after that performance. We never got our of second gear and struggled to play our passing game. Set pieces and long balls were our only method ot getting a goal.

I don’t think Coventry deserved to get the win but we were not at the races. Coventry did a number on us. Whenever we had the ball we look static and struggled to find any space to open Coventry up.

Midfield was completely wrong. In hindsight we should have played 4-4-2 with Marshall on the wing. Fosu was exceptional on Saturday, terrible today. Ajose looked lost.

Very frustrating day at the office.

Poor first half looked a bit better after the break when changes were made especially Marshall who offered some attacking width. We managed to get ourselves back into the game from a set piece converted by Pratley after his poor start. We then succumbed to a late winner not the first time this season. If I'm honest we were second best most of the match a bit like the Blackpool game so time to regroup and we go again on Saturday at Barnsley where I'd take a point right now.

Aribo longer term injury. That’s trouble.

    Was at the game.

They deserved to win, quite frankly. We looked crap and they looked mediocre, but with more threat and a better grasp on our tactics than our grasp on theirs. Today, we did not have the right players to play the diamond formation Bowyer favours, and I think there was a little naivete in not changing up.

We looked much better with wingers, largely because they had spotted our lack of width in the first half and overran the flanks accordingly. But even after that we afforded them too much space and time with the ball at their feet, especially their 23 who orchestrated a lot of problems for us.

Today was a bit of a team failing rather than any individual player. Going through them briefly:

Steer looked average in goal - one or two smart saves, but distribution wasn't all there. Bayer and Pearce were undone by pace fairly consistently and weren't helped by being exposed to it most of the time. Solly and Dijksteel weren't great but are fairly blameless because of the lack of support they got from the flanks of the diamond.

Bielik was very good on the ball and contributed both in attack and defence. He didn't often have an outlet though, which is a shame. Reeves was lightweight and lost the ball too often, while Pratley was sluggish and lost the ball too often. Fosu at the tip did not look fit, but when he had the ball looked potentially more dangerous than a lot of our players. He was poor today though. Marshall was very good when he came on as he offered width and some pace.

Worst was Ajose. Uninterested and hid himself a lot, often getting to the ball just a stride or two too late to actually do anything to contribute, and I suspect it was deliberate. Taylor was subdued but always looks so difficult to play against. KAG had snatches, but is far from fit.

We need more depth, and some way to find a breather, in the next month to continue to challenge in this league, I suspect. But one defeat is not the be all and end all!

    COYR and UTA

Well there's a surprise. Charlton don't do 1-2 week short term injuries.

Got what we deserved: Nothing! Allowed them too much space and time. On the occasions we attacked it was all too slow and predictable. The subs all looked to be better than those they replaced, that gave us a bit of hope - especially Marshall - but it was only temporary.

Only good thing is that The Ricoh is very close to the motorway, so it doesn't take long to get moving afterwards.

    Our midfield is cursed

    JFC, Cullen, Aribo, Lapslie, Ward

    It’s ridiculous

You can imagine Bowyer's post match comments:

"We didn't really turn up, did we?"

  • The upside is this league is utter junk , so we could lose a few more and we are still more than good enough to make the play offs .

Downside is we have sooo many injuries we could turn in to another junk league one side and struggle to make it .

a bad day at the office

move on to the next game

    Dreadful
  • Only saw second half, but we were poor. Second to the ball. gave them all the space in the world to do what they wanted to do, and no cohesion or bite.
Marshall and Taylor were the only 2 to come out with any credit.
Solly's aerial challenge in extra time sorta summed it up when he went up for a header and missed the ball by a long distance and handled it at chest level to give the impetus back to them.

We got what we deserved and that was the square root of a mince pie. Failed to deal with the movement on the wings and their 23 Caused us all sorts of problems. We tried to stick to a game plan that wasn’t working and then when we changed it with Marshall going down their wing we still couldn’t handle heir wide play. Second best to everything and their keeper had one of the easiest games he will play in.

We’re top eight not top two. We’ve proved already we are not incapable of a really dodgy result. Forget the top two shit. Let’s concentrate on getting into and winning the playoffs.

I think the ref took pity on us when Solly did that as he blew for FT straight after. You are right though that summed up our whole game. Utter crap.
  • What's actually wrong with Aribo?

Really missed aribo today. Had no creativity in midfield, and needed someone to come and carry the ball out from defence into midfield. Everything had to come through Bielik because Fosu, Reeves and Pratley (besides the goal) were all useless. Our midfield is screwed. No JFC. No Cullen. No Aribo.

We played narrow, they exploited the space wide first half. Their full backs bombing on. Marsh coming on pushed them back, and we had a little flurry of pressure, but nothing amazing.
Second goal for them was too easy, Fosu watched his man come inside, Lapo tried coming in to cover but the lad got his shot away.
After two good performances, Fosu was disappointing. Coventry done their home work and was on his touch, back to goal, and lost possession in our own half.
Gutting. But we didn’t deserve to win, a draw would’ve been fair, but just slightly.
Coventry weren’t great, but we always slip in these away games which is frustrating.
No idea how Bow will pick a midfield for Saturday with Lapo and Aribo out.

I wouldn't be so downbeat, Shooters.

It's League One. We've got some good players for the standard of division.
We've been winning games with only half a team. We've got more midfielders injured than available to play.
Maybe Bowyer needs to adapt his formation to suit the players actually available .... but then he's the manager, I'll leave that to him.

We're still 4th in the division. Some of our rivals won today, some of them lost.
Long way to go yet. Let's just enjoy the ride and see what happens.
