In the old days any player who nutmegged an opponent seemed to be ripe for a kick by the player he did that to. Now it is now lauded by everyone as a great bit of skill.
If he had missed the penalty he would rightly have got shed loads of abuse but that is the risk/reward nature of the stunt.1 -
