Good shout actually. Been no leaks for that unlike last year with Hannah Fry.

They start filming series 21 studio today I believe so last weeks record may have been new years treat

Agree with everyone else. Good opener. The final task was one of the best 'on the stage' tsks ever, and the look on Maisie's face when her first go at the shopping mall curling nearly hit the centre of the target was a particular highlight, for me. Have not encountered Phil before but his prize task entry was a strong hint at the weirdness in store. His body also seems to be proportioned like Gru out of despicable me.

Too early to be completely sure but there's very little sign of any of them being especially competent - which is a good thing, as 1. It's funny and 2. We're unlikely to get a situation like the last season where it was quite obvious early on who the series winner would be.

Obviously the "winning" is very much a secondary factor in Taskmaster but it hopefully keeps things interesting.
  • You know when you’re in for a good series when the contestants crack Alex into laughter in the first episode! That was great!
  • Great last game on the stage. Nearly lost two contestants completely.

Second episode not so good, especially the team task. Live task was very good though

It wasn't as funny but loved the bag task, got to see some creativity.

Yeah I felt that was a weaker episode bar the bag task. Reece Shearsmiths creativity is going to be a real highlight like it was with Steve Pemberton.

I think there were some of the tasks where the contestants were genuinely confused about what to do which didn't help.

I'm personally a bit disappointed in Sanjeev, he's clearly doing the "I don't really want to be here" shtick but its been done before and a lot better.

Sanjeev it feels like it's David Baddiel/Jo Brand checked out vibe but somehow coming across worse?

David Baddiel tried to be fair he was just useless.

Jo Brand didn’t care but did try at times, it's how she got annoyed which was funny.

Sanjeev just doesn't seem to care at all.

Yeah I don't have a problem with the gimmick, lots of contestants have done it before and made it funny, but Sanjeev is just not working for me.

I expected a lot more from him. I guess when you've had the master of that kind of schtick with Jack Dee , it's hard to see anyone else try it.
  • Sort of sad that Reece wasn't swapped with Sanjeev on the teams - only because the coat game from an Ania, Phil and Reece would have been amazing.

Julian Clary too, tbf.  Wasn't my favourite contestant but ever but the withering "bearing up under the strain" type put downs etc were great.

Reece and Maisie were brilliant throughout but they were superb on the team task

Sanjeev is just phoning it in. Phil has his moments but I don't find him particularly funny but at least he's giving it a proper go

I like Ania, she's pretty much as I expected

I thought Sanjeev was way more with it in the studio, as was Reece which makes sense given we're into the second recording and they're less used to being themselves on stage. Phil makes me laugh with virtually everything he does and the team task was fantastic

Maisie's face when she realised she might not be getting her entry in the prize task back was a picture. And I'm wondering if they chose the mascot and snakes and ladders tasks to be in the same episode specifically for the running gag about her appalling memory.

Poor Reece with the snakes and Ladders 🤣 , one of the funniest task attempts in many a series. Still not really getting Sanjeevs schtick but the rest of the cast is very very strong.

I wonder who the contestants are! Adam Buxton is desperate to be on it - guz khan made him ring up Alex Horne to essentially beg to be on it on his live podcast a few months ago.

Reese had probably one of the worst single episodes (in terms of luck/performance) of all time, and the fact it peaked with his apparent redemption in the live task being nothing of the sort was the icing on the cake.

Still not hitting the heights this series, but some genuine belly laughs yesterday. Reece was funny on the podcast as well.

Decent episode tonight. Ania's attempt at the tiebreaker shouldn't have counted though

Not sure if it's just because it's following a really strong series but this feels a bit flat to me. Sanjeev isn't really doing it for me, Phil seems a bit too try-hard and "doing a bit" and Ania is just kind of there. Maisie and Reese are the only ones who I'm particularly enjoying.

Sanjeev is the only one I'm struggling to fully enjoy. Phil and Ania are being very consistent with their stand up personas, Ania is very understated and Phil is massively over the top. Maybe those two things don't gel for some viewers. Personally I'm loving it but I knew their work previously so knew what to expect which probably helps

Yeah I'm struggling with Sanjeev too. Maybe he'll warm up eventually but it's all feeling a bit " what am I doing here" and other people have done that type of thing a lot better on TM.

Phill feels like the one that will use this as a launchpad to bigger things.

    Probably Sanjeev's best episode tonight.
Really enjoyed the live task too
