Great win. Well fought and although I felt we offered more going forward, was worried they might nick one
Can’t get enough of Lee Bowyer, Jackson and the spirit in that team at the moment
The front two look mint, Ward when match fit will only get better. Aribo so assured and Reeves if we can refrain from trying to be too fancy can really compliment us. Cullen again looked good. Felt we were a bit exposed at full back and not Page’s greatest game defensively, but we deserved the 3pts7 -
KAG might have been poor but what about KG?Doomer Jon said:Thought KAG was poor overall - should have laid it to Taylor for a tap in and was sleeping when we hit the post and could've tapped in. If he can sort that out and keep scoring!! Needs someone to better coach him.

Totally agree mate. Watched on iFollow also and did look shaky at the back, especially first half.robroy said:Watched on iFollow. Thought we looked a bit shaky at the back.
We looked quality going forward and was well deserved in the end. Please we got the win as would not want Taylor worrying about the missed pen.
Loved the bit at the end where he was telling the fans in the covererd end to keep the ball haha.
Credit to Bowyer on the sub.
Onwards we march with Fosu and Billy Boy to come back

Tireless work from Grant and Taylor again; chased a lot of long balls in the first half. Aribo had a really good first half but Ward was anonymous throughout and Cullen was unable to really stamp his authority on the game.
Make no mistake though, we would not have won this last season and everyone worked really hard. My only (subjective) criticism again is of Reeves. I just don't get it? He runs round in circles and more often than not his end product is poor! Too many attempts at cute little passes that don't seem to come off. Perhaps I look for it? I don't know.
Plymouth were no mugs either by the way and will (arguably) be disappointed they didn't get a draw. They were well set up, especially second half, and will not be fighting relegation in my opinion. Whether they can do a similar charge again like last season though I'm not sure.
West Country commentators were also very complimentary of our passing which was good to hear. Real good feel about this at the moment.7 -
Anybody know how the Civil Service Strollers did today?0

As I said mate, maybe it's just me(?). I just struggle to see what effect/impact he has on the game. I'll try harder though.cafc_se7 said:

First game of the season for me.
Taylor is twice as good as Magennis, what a find!! Grant becoming the player I hoped he would. Every team in the division would take Taylor, Grant and Vetokele as 3 strikers.
Cullen, Solly, Reeves all outstanding.
Great performance although we should be wary that better sides will punish our slight defensive lapses and missed chances.
Stuck at it right to the end and we were knocking on the door for ten minutes before they eventually caved.
Promising.

It's interesting how many different views there are of how certain players performed. Here and on the players' marks thread, it sounds like we had to Reeveses playing for us, one great and one poor to awful.2

10 in 9 for our strike partnership, been a while since we have seen stats like that! Good work Lyle and Karlan. Bow doing a cracking job.8

AG is now scoring and creating goals. Before this season he struggled to make an impact on the first team.
He’s gone from being back up and loaned out to an important first team player. I’d say much of that is down to good coaching and management. He’s a lot more confident and being 21 he has plenty of time to improve.5 -
A couple of questions for those who saw the game. First, was it a poor penalty or a good save? Second, is Igor starting to look like the player we had before his injury?0

He's literally just won us 3 points and you're knocking him for being poor?Doomer Jon said:Thought KAG was poor overall - should have laid it to Taylor for a tap in and was sleeping when we hit the post and could've tapped in. Couldn’t get there today. Thought I would read this to see how we played. Am non the wiser.5

Couldn’t attend today. From what I can gather we deserved the three points so good show chaps. As said. I wasn’t there but it seems to me that it’s going to be defensive frailty and lapses that cost us points this season. I know we’ve lost Paddy but perhaps with the exception of Pearce none of the back four are rock steady. We seem to concede an awful lot of soft goals. I’ll be interested to see the scores for the back four today. Bowyer doesn’t have that many options but if we can tighten the back line i’ll Certainly feel more relaxed.

The way both Taylor and Grant have started the season, I wouldn’t expect anything less from either of themletthegoodtimesroll said:

The table makes for good reading except for our goals scored. We do need to hand out a tonking or two to get our goal difference up.7
-
Once again we allowed a poor team compete against us when we should have blown them out the water.
We probably created more chances today than we usually do in ten matches. However, we got the three points which is the only thing which matters.
Too many individuals mistakes today, but Grant was there when it mattered.
I love watching this Charlton team, especially Grant who looks a league above at times.
Overall, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be near the top 2 come the end of the season.
To the championship we’re on the way1 -
It looks to be a poor penalty.Oggy Red said:

Firstly hard luck to Plymouth - Call me generous as a Football fan yet there are rare occasions when despite being overjoyed at a late winner I do feel a little bit sorry for the opposition ... It isnt that Plymouth deserved anything from todays game, more the fact that they'd done so well to hold us at bay for so long... today wasnt a dirty game, was just a good old fashioned / proper game of English Football between two honest sides and respect Plymouth for that fact (Was pretty much the same last season when we beat them 2-0 if I remember rightly)
As for the match - I had a sense that Plymouth would take the lead when we made our blistering start (Its just the Charlton way) and think things could have been very different had Karlan not gotten the instant equaliser... First Half onwards I thought Jamie Ward was superb as was Joe Aribo and special mention to Josh Cullen for putting in a beautiful tackle on the edge of the box (during one of the only two occasions that Sarr messed up today and who excellent in the second half with Pearce)... Not to leave him out I was also impressed with Ben Reeves who despite trying to shoot on sight I thought was a breath of fresh air as too often we'd dither around the penalty area
Lyle Taylor was his customary self and didnt stop working for the team, was unlucky not to be on the scoresheet today... Struck a good penalty (Wasnt one of those Michael Gray type efforts which always deserve to be stopped), yet was only in the second half did I realise how tall their bloody Goalkeeper was so not surprised he got a hand to it
As for Karlan its lovely to see - Have always backed him when others have doubted him so is great to see the goals flying in, especially his composure for the second after missing a few chances today.8 -
Forgot to mention Aribo. Fantastic.9
-
Give the keeper credit though, it was a very decent save ..... but I agree with you that Taylor could have placed his penalty better.AddicksAddict said:

Brilliant result. Following the tweets from @LouisMend, Rich Cawley and the club and went a little mad when Karlan’s second went in. Got a few looks in a beach bar where everyone’s watching the Scousers v the Saints, but think they all enjoyed seeing a “real football” fan!!!6
