We both agreed on 65 so am sticking with it now. Taking into account the fireplace and swivel wall mount I think it's the safest option so hopefully won't regret it.
Doubles up as a bar/gym/photography studio and is totally soundproofed for late night parties (we had 30 people in last Christmas), turbo sessions with Metallica blasting out or screaming abuse at Tottenham on the box.
Think I've spotted a flaw in your soundproofing...
Changed my mind, going for the big daddy 75 after all. Have almost decided on the Sony kd75xf9005 but waiting to see if price drops soon.
Been looking at soundbars and that's giving me the same sort of headache. Want a good sound obviously but it doesn't have to be cinema like. Under £300 preferably, any recommendations?

Just got a Sonos beam, £399, great sound. You can also add to it when you want.

Thanks have just read some reviews on that and it scores very well. I know very little about sound bars... Does it come with a remote or will the sky remote control it? Can the voice controls be turned off? Not something I tend to use on phone so doubt I will on a tv.

If you're going for a massive (and expensive) TV I'm surprised you're not going for the full surround sound experience.
I have a basic £100 soundbar, but then my TV is just 42 inches

No remote with it, you can use you TV, Sky, Virgin remote once programmed. You can turn off the voice control by the app you can download.

Am tempted to do so with this Sonos guinness has recommended.

why not push the boat out & buy your local Odeon or Cineworld. Big screen, loud sound system & plenty of seating.
Don't know about the size. It's 3D tv I cant get on with. The crispness does something to my brain and I cant enjoy the picture. Spent two weeks on holiday with 3D and disliked it so much we stopped watching. To me it makes all pictures look like an old low budget 80's program/film.

Probably should have gone outside for some sun, or a swim, or to look at an old church instead
It looks like a log cabin from the outside but inside its a bit different... ideal for watching the football/cricket/sport in peace and quiet and NIL nagging from wife when she's watching her crap in the house. Doubles up as a bar/gym/photography studio and is totally soundproofed for late night parties (we had 30 people in last Christmas), turbo sessions with Metallica blasting out or screaming abuse at Tottenham on the box. We had a 40" on the wall when it was first finished and it looked ridiculously small so we upgraded.
Excuse the mess as I was in the middle of testing some wiring behind the tv as my firebox had died but you can't see any of it now. When I'm on the turbo, I have to move the bike away from the tv as I end up with a headache from being so close to it. (PS) before anyone mentions the pink cushions, they're back in the house now. They don't live in my man cave.

I've got a 55" TV in my front room, looks bloody massive in what is a long but fairly narrow room, it's a Samsung curved TV, supposedly if you sit at an angle it's meant to look more like you are viewing it front on.
@JohnBoyUK well jealous of that mancave, would look amazing at the bottom of my garden once the kids trampoline/playhouse/football goal are all gone !!

I think you are all looking at the wrong TV here.
It is the big one on the top left of the picture. @JohnBoyUK is watching Homes under the Hammer and they are selling a semi detached with nice garden and a strange rock in the middle.
So I changed my mind yet again and have just picked up an LG oled65b7v for £1889 from richer sounds, last one they had. Bit of a risk as I usually like to buy online so can easily return but the price and 6 year warranty was too good to turn down. Sonos beam next...
@guinnessaddick do you have any play 1's with yours? Was going to get a couple but seen a thread online about them failing to install properly with the beam so putting me off somewhat.

I've got 4 around the house, I haven't yet linked them to the beam as surround sound, I've be meaning to do it. Will try do it soon as I've got a couple in the garden to come in, now it's getting colder. Will let you know how I get on.
Something to bear in mind, we've got two sonos playbars connected to our tv's in the house and we're always having to adjust the tv sound sync delay. Sky channels, BBC and ITV are all fine but its noticable if watching ITV2-4 and need to be adjusted.
Firmware is up-to-date on tv's and playbars but these are 1st gen so no idea if same issues exist on newer versions.

Have used Richer several times and always found them to be excellent

I’ve got a Sony 75 inch screen bloody brilliant!!! Had it three years now and the best gadget I’ve ever owned. I’ve just built a cinema room and I’m getting the Sony 85 inch for that room.

Anyway, I digress, back to TVs
Very nice, not sure about the giant turd in the middle of the garden though

I'm loving this thread, yet I don't even have a telly.

Do you live in Welling, they look like Stephens Houses?

Brought my Sonos play 1's in from the garden and have set them as surround speakers for my beam, no problems with them.
