Neither left because of Morgan.SELR_addicks said:
Both left because the club preferred to keep Morgan on. Do you think he's better than either?ForeverAddickted said:
Be curious to see how he does if he drops to League Two on a permanent dealDazzler21 said:
Well he was a regular in our promotion winning sides end of season run in this league. Played 20 odd games in the Championship too.SELR_addicks said:
But we want to be above this level no?Dazzler21 said:Your argument is astoundingly good.
He's probably had 30 good performances in there and maybe 30 bad performances. The remaining almost 30 he's been about the level a 20/21/22 year old is expected to be when their ceiling is probably this level.
Currently he is a League Two level player because of his lack of disclipine and intelligence when on the pitch. We shouldn't be wanting to give him opportunities when we want to be higher up the division and challenging for promotion.
Give him a loan out and get a player in that shows more promise than a Lower League One ceiling.
Personally I think he will find his progression occurs at another club.
Neither Lapslie or Wiredu overly impressed when given opportunities with the First Team (Although their chances were even more fleeting than Albie's), yet since they've left, there have been questions as to why they were let go.
Lapslie was a defensive midfielder and Wiredu a winger/fullback at the time of leaving.
Ironically Wiredu would probably be useful as a RWB for us right now.3 -
Who's asking if we should have kept Lapslie? He's found his level at Mansfield hasn't he?

I seem to recall a number of posts last season when he went on a bit of a scoring run.Croydon said:Who's asking if we should have kept Lapslie? He's found his level at Mansfield hasn't he?
A few certainly asked why we'd let Lapslie go and not Pratley2 -
Fwiw I'd have prime Messi and Ronaldo on our wings in a 4-5-1 with ibrahimovic up top.SELR_addicks said:I think Lapslie has shown more in Charlton colours than Morgan ever has.
For what it's worth I wouldn't have any of them back though.1 -
Does Morgan regularly play for the u23s, I don't think he does. Why?0
-
Isn’t a first team player playing for the U23’s not seen as a punishment or a way of regaining match fitness after an injury though?2
-
Thought Albie played well today personally. If we're serious about getting out of the league then we'll need to improve on him, but that can be said about the entire midfield though.

Training with I fully understand but surely it makes sense for Davison to play for the u23s midweek this week. That means Morgan, at 21, has had 1 game and change in 3 months, that can't be right for his development.Dazzler21 said:
Because Jackson has him training with the first team. Burstow & Davison no longer train/ play with the u23's either.Cafc43v3r said:Does Morgan regularly play for the u23s, I don't think he does. Why?1 -
Has too low a football IQ, will do very well when dropping down a level.
Was okay today, kept running into dead ends but was out of position on the left.
He's already had enough chances though IMO1 -

I suppose the question there is whether more development will occur in playing youth football or in training with pros.Cafc43v3r said:

I'm going to guess it'd be in the 'development' side.0 -
Morgan played well today. One of the few players out there who looked like a proper footballer, running with the ball into space and passing it to other players instead of just hoofing it forward10
-
Albies a luxury player, a decent player on his day but a luxury in a side.
His more suited to team being built around him and opposed to him being told to do a job0 -
No just fucking bored of people pretending Morgan is good and is going turn into something he’s not.🥱🥱 nearly 90 appearances and not 1st choice for a reason.JoshAddick said:2 -
To me, he's the alternative to Elliot Lee in this squad. And what we really need is a quality squad where Elliot Lee becomes the alternative option off the bench.
Couldn't see how Lee and Morgan were going to fit into the same team today. It was made possible by Albie playing deeper than Gilbey would have been that severly limited our ability to get bodies into the box at key moments. Unfortunately Albie isn't positionally aware enough to play the playmaker from deep role on his own, it would have to be alongside a destroyer Dobson-type.

Take it to the extreme is it any good Burstow, or Davison, playing 10 minutes here and there and NOT playing for the u23s for the rest of the season if the senior strikers are all fit?Dazzler21 said:

Oh absolutely not, but Morgan at this time is our only back up midfielder really.Cafc43v3r said:

I hope we get another senior player in at CAM if I'm honest1 -
Not this bollocks again.
He's not good enough, and has proved that over the last 3 seasons now. He hasn't progressed, at all. He doesn't unlock opponents with passing, he doesn't score goals, he's not pacy, he's not tenacious, and he's not a kid anymore either7 -
This is Morgan's record in the league since Jackson got the job. People say he needs a loan, he needs to play some sort of football doesn't he....Dazzler21 said:

He was one of our better players yesterday which basically says everything you need to know about the teams performance overall.
Never going to make it at this level, he has played over 90 1st team games and according to Bowyer we couldn't even get him a loan deal last year.0 -

Cannot get my head around the negativity towards him on here. Yes, he's inconsistent but he is also one of the few creative players we have. Has good vision, can pass, can cross and he's one of our own. I honestly don't get it.
He was playing the Championship at 19 and now some say he's a League 2 player??? How? He was one of our better players yesterday, but we should get rid..? Mystified.

Gotten countless chances. Look at his goals and assists. Dobson can do everything he does, and also tackle0
-
Dobson can't do everything Morgan can whilst also playing his own role.1
-
I cannot believe how much rope our fans are willing to give Morgan, when they're also picking on the single best player of the past 2 months (Clare), saying he's not good enough for having one iffy game.
Who put in the cross we actually scored from btw? Was it Morgan? I forget0 -
Wait who has said Clare's not good enough?
Has Clare been our single best player the last 2 months? He's done well as an out of position player filling in at RCB.
The proper comparison should be between Morgan and Lee or Gilbey.
Those two at least have consistency, Morgan needs that to improve, he also needs to read the game better.
I find it odd that It's not unusual to slag a player off for one bad game, but is unusual to call out when a player has played well.
It's also apparently not unusual to hark on about a players history when with all players, they're only as good as their last game.4 -
Morgan had a good game yesterday... Clare did not, havent seen anyone saying that Sean isnt good enough for us based on how he played yesterday. Its a shame that fans cant simply acknowledge when a player has a good or bad gameLeuth said:I cannot believe how much rope our fans are willing to give Morgan, when they're also picking on the single best player of the past 2 months (Clare), saying he's not good enough for having one iffy game.

Regardless of past performances3 -
I can't say I've seen anyone recently saying Clare isn't good enough.
But most people recognise that he had a poor game on Saturday.3 -
Clare isn't good enough at the job we signed him for. The fact he is good enough at something else is a very happy happenstance.Covered End said:I can't say I've seen anyone recently saying Clare isn't good enough.

Dobson is a different type of player. Indeed him and Morgan worked together very well yesterdayLeuth said:Gotten countless chances. Look at his goals and assists. Dobson can do everything he does, and also tackle4 -
Unfortunately the invisible Lee and DJ made their job that much harder.killerandflash said:
