The Severn Bridge has been closed west bound because there is a shortage of staff to operate tolls on that and the old Severn Bridge. So better to create havoc for thousands of people than just let everyone go through for free for one afternoon. Madness

    No extremes of stupidity surprise me anymore in this country.

    Motorists are pariahs. Punish the bastards! Even if the resulting jams cause more emissions reduction of which is used as the justification to justify the extortion motorists suffer.

    Why do the booths even need to be staffed in this day and age anyway? I’ve just spent a week driving in Italy, paying tolls to use the Autostrada and I haven’t seen a single person at any of the toll booths all week, it is all automated.
