Because he was contracted to do so. It's been gone over a thousand times but in reality at the end of every season there are hundreds of players across the country who's contracts are finishing but okay to the last minute of the last game as they are contracted to do so and are professionals. Taylor chose not to fulfil his contract let alone extend it for a month or so to finish the season.ElfsborgAddick said:
A journeyman footballer's career is short. Why should he put Charlton over his bank balance?Athletico Charlton said:

Taylor will not be in the slightest bit concerned. He set himself up for life joining Forest. Good luck to him.
And the above was after the club had paid him well for a big chunk of the season whilst he was injured. We acted honorably, he didn't.
He is early the type that won't care but it does not make what he did right and simply saying "he got a big bank balance" doesn't change that.8 -

I have never contested that what he did was wrong, I purely understand why he did it.Athletico Charlton said:

I understand why a mugger chooses an old lady for a victim. Obviously don't agree with it but it's the way of the world and it is a bit naive to think otherwise.ElfsborgAddick said:

It was his injury playing for Montserrat that ‘played on his mind’ and was the reason he did not honour his contract and play out the season with us.superclive98 said:

Just wondering if we can get Lyle in as a penalty coach for the next world cup, might teach our players a thing or two?2

Think Sir Clive would be a better optionMendonca In Asdas said:Just wondering if we can get Lyle in as a penalty coach for the next world cup, might teach our players a thing or two?0 -

Starts today against Coventry - Plenty of time for a move to happen but be surprised if he heads to Birmingham (as per the ever reliable Alan Nixon) if he's getting starts for Forest0
-
There’s no doubt Lyle was a quality player for us, I know a few forest fans from living down here and don’t think it’s worked out for him so far so maybe a reunion with a manager who can clearly get the best out of him might be a good move.
Football operates in a totally different world of course but can’t be many industries where someone could walk out on their manager at such a crucial time and leave them high and dry yet still be sought after by said manager a couple of years later however.2
