Lyle Taylor - August 2025 signed for Chelmsford City (p295)

Seems a popular choice with Celtic fans9

I think he will come unstuck,he will forever be known for what he did at Charlton, would we as fans welcome him to our club knowing that in their desperate times he had deserted his former club,no,and other clubs and their supporters will feel the same.He is linked with Rangers, does anybody honestly think Gerrard would go near anyone with that attitude.1
-
Lyle's mantra which cropped up a lot during those interviews before the restart was "I know my own worth", which might be a problem if he's overvalued himself.9
-
Yep. On a three year deal. We are absolutely ballbagged at the moment, getting in a proven L1 promotion striker would be a godsend. Just look at the hand-wringing on the Conor Washington thread because he's not scored 100 goals and hurt his hamstring once. To be honest, I didn't like Lyle when he was with us; loved the player, but thought he came across as an arse on social media. Deliberately baited opposition players and fans on the pitch, which was fine, and then went home and deliberately baited Charlton fans on Twitter. Mystifying. I don't need to like him, I need someone to do goals so I don't have to see us play Accrington anymore.Valley11 said:If he didn’t find a club and Bowyer wanted him back, would you take him?
Would score 20 plus in League 1 to get us back to the Championship.

Hopefully he will just get offered a worse deal then what Roland offered last November.
Should have signed on the dotted line LT.
Unfortunately 2 people who up extremely far up their own assholes don't usually ever really get on and see eye to eye.
The same magnetic force repels.

Yes, he probably did.AllHailTheHen said:
So because of his hurt feelings he refused to play thus risking us to relegation and thereby screwing over his teammates, Bow and his staff, the club employees and the supporters. What a guy.ElfsborgAddick said:
The club/Dushitelet let him down on a transfer. He's bitter because of this.ricky_otto said:

Why should he care about upsetting fans and ex team mates? It is only a job.

If it’s only a job, then you wouldn’t go around upsetting clients and colleagues, because eventually your reputation would stop you getting any decent new job.ElfsborgAddick said:

Fair comment, but I think COVID has come at a bad time for Taylor.stoneroses19 said:

Taylor has been a lower league journeyman for much of his career who did very well for us for 18 months. He's 30, worth a punt on a free but clubs will be put off by his refusal to play.1

I think he was quite likely waiting to see if Brentford went up to be honest. They were willing to pay 3-4 million for him only a few months ago so why would they not want him now on a free.
Watkins out Taylor in.7 -
Can't imagine for minute that Taylor is in a position to be waiting to see what happened with other clubs promotions. Taylor is no replacement for Watkins.covered_end_junior said:I think he was quite likely waiting to see if Brentford went up to be honest. I'd have to disagree, Brentford may have spoken to him already and made it clear that they want him if they stayed down. On that basis why would you not wait rather than rush a decision and end up at a worse Championship club. I think he'll sign somewhere soon and would make Brentford favourites.1

If he'd have played after lockdown and scored 5 goals he could prob have demanded high end champ striker fees.

I'd just like to see the Judas go anywhere so we can stop talking about him on this thread! Boring as fuck and who cares... He fucking didn't!2

Agreed. The only reasonable logic behind him not playing was that he already had something agreed, and hence didn't need to put himself in the shop windowCharltonparklane said:If he'd have played after lockdown and scored 5 goals he could prob have demanded high end champ striker fees.

Yeah, thought he had something lined up which would somewhat explain why he didn't play. Maybe it has fallen through since, which would be awfulkillerandflash said:

Nottingham press are saying that Forest and Derby are battling it out for Ivan Toney for £5 million, maybe Taylor has to wait in turn for the attractive options to be signed first.0

With all that's been going on I'd forgotten about that snake.2

Mark my words, Taylor will be part of the ESIv3 consortium.Farnell will rope him in with Danny Murphy, Kevin Muscat and Kelvin McKenzie.5

You might be on to something, he has a family connection with club - his daughter Leon played for us.Macronate said:Mark my words, Taylor will be part of the ESIv3 consortium.Farnell will rope him in with Danny Murphy, Kevin Muscat and Kelvin McKenzie.3 -
Great signing for brentford tbf. With him and midfield fit we were top 6 despite patchy defence0
