They seemed more worried in the last 15 minutes that they may concede another on the break rather than trying to push up and throw a bit of caution to the wind- France did defend well but they were still knocking it across the back to each other even in minute 88 - i'm surprised they didn't try and go a bit more direct towards the end.

Agree about De Bruyne but I thought it was a really good game, lot of good chances and a lot of quality on show. Decent defences and surprised Belgium couldn’t get more past an excellent French defence.

Totally agree. I call it the extra pass. It is ok when you build slowly, but if you are desperate you don't need it - the ball can be carried forward just as effectively with one man less. And that allows you to push players up. Yes it is risky defensively, especially with the players France have, but if you are behind with 20 mins to go you surely have to take risks.

This was not meant to be a game with many goals . However, I saw our 7ft striker miss a couple of headers and duels . I'm pleased however, it didn't end in the last second - David Platt style . That did hurt a lot :(

    Best of luck tomorrow ...

Feel sorry for semi final losers.

Right now the Belgium players probably just want to leave Russia, go home and try and forget, but instead they now have to stick around to play a pointless 3rd place play off match.

Thanks. Belgium can be proud of their achievements. I do think they would have made the final had they not beaten us in the final group game. Is that the view in Belgium out of interest.

Not really . It isn't mentioned . Comments are focused on a couple of players who didn't perform 110 % . We missed Thomas Meunier on the flank and the referee better picks another country to spend his next holiday ;)

Well, they have missed the point then. Belgium were set up to gain a much easier route. In a game of small margins, that is what it is all about. Wales got to the semis of the Euros two years ago as their side of the draw completely opened up. Belgium would have absolutely walked it into the final had they finished second in the group. When you play Brazil, then France your chances of being knocked out are much greater than when you play Sweden and Croatia. There is no way Belgium wouldn't have beaten Croatia!

He could have gone to Sint Truiden, mostly a lovely part of the world.

  • Let’s see what happens tomorrow but there are no two ways about it - France will be big big favourites against us. Mbappé, Griezmann, Pogba, Kante...... they have a lot.

Finals a one off game though so you would have to hope our lot could raise their game one last time.

Croatia first though - and that’s tough enough!

France were also big big favourites in their own stadium v Portugal at Euro 2016.

More $$$$$ for FIFA is all that match is for.

  • Vive La France for me now.

Can't have fucking Croatia winning the whole thing.

Disagree. The world cup is a competition and the 3 best teams deserve a medal be it Bronze, Silver or Gold or should we remove all medals beneath gold in all competitions?

I haven't read this thread, so apologies if this has been covered.

But I notice what I assume are some Chinese companies utilising the perimeter advertising hoardings. (I quite like the one with the cow heading the ball). But because they are aimed at the Chinese market I've no idea who they are or what they do. @JessieAddick - I wonder if you could provide some background info?

Would like to see Croatia win it now - have only had two 'new' teams win it in my lifetime (France 98 and Spain 10) and both of those had previously had a lot of success. Be nice to see a different team win the World Cup if we can't.
