Saints have played a long way below par. Came out with a lot of arrogance and went big immediately. That backfired and they have had to work hard for the lead. I wanted a Reid bowl (Chiefs Vs Eagles) but Saints / Rams would be a much better NFC Championship game. So I've changed my mind.0

On one drive the Eagles lose the following defensive players for various lengths of time to injury:
Corner back Rasul Douglas
Defensive End Brandon Graham
Defensive Tackle Fletcher Cox
Defensive End Michael Bennett
They also lost Guard Brandon Brooks to an achillies injury and Left Tackle Jason Peters from the offense.
Honsestly its incredible that given those injuries they were able to keep the game alive into the last 90 seconds or so. The future is bright.3 -

Hes hoping that the Oakland A's give him a major league contract. Technically they can do that and they may well end up doing so because if he signs for an NFL team they get nothing. They probably get the money they have paid him back but they lose their first round draft pick (8th pick in the draft) and get nothing in return.
If they do give him a ML contract then he has to go on the 40 man roster which causes some difficulty for them. Firstly, he would have to make it to the major league team in 4 years or they would lose him. Secondly that roster spot is very valuable in terms of flexibility and would cause them problems keeping marginal prospects.
Hes right to declare for the draft. Baseball pays a lot more once you are established (though that seems like it might be changing at the moment) and is probably a lot better for your long term health but the working conditions and salaries in the minor leagues are pretty bad. He can guarantee a sizable amount of money right now by entering the NFL draft (barring injury between now and the draft). So hes essentially trading potential long term earnings for guaranteed earnings right now.4 -
I originally thought this was Murray's plan but there appear to be a few rumblings that he genuinely wants to play football over baseball, especially as he's likely to be a first round pick this year and get the guarantees and security that come with that. My view on the Murray situation is that he’s betting on himself to get a Kirk Cousins contract in the NFL, I mean even before that point a 1st round QBs contract is almost always fully guarenteed anyway so he’s looking at 10+m there. I’m not an expert on baseball so might be off here but I think that pretty much only the $6m bonus he was paid is all the guarenteed money he has if he went for the MLB, with the ‘Farm system’ you work your way through lower leagues earning pretty minimal wages but are expected to keep incredibly fit and perform at your best without even having a ‘spot’ on a major league team at all. With how protected QBs are nowadays I don’t buy much in to the CTE argument and with contracts being more and more guarentee sided if he enjoys football more I don’t see why he shouldn’t be declaring.0

If you look at the way QBs are being protected now, there is no real reason for Kyler Murray to be massively concerned about his health if he does pick the NFL route.
It’s a story to watch with interest this off season.0 -
