They should have a separate version of all sports where you can get off your pickle on whatever you want, I'd probably watch the "juiced" version if I'm honest
I remember reading that the drug involved helps you drop weight and improve lung function so climb better.
The problem isn’t that it’s necessarily against the rules. The problem is setting yourself up to the media as being super clean, and then not being super clean.
Funny how the press goes OTT over an ‘ethical’ issue involving Wiggins ( never Had a positive dope test) whilst Chris Froome has a positive dope test and rides on through a deafening silence ! ...the good old British press can’t see the wood for the trees maybe ?

Because Froome hasnt denied anything
Froome has straight away admitted what he's done, basically saying that its up to the authorities to decide his fate - Until that happens he's free to ride and get on with his job so there isnt much of a story for the press to cover

As far as I'm aware Froome was using salbutamol - not really in the same league as what Bradley used. Anyway let's see what happens.....
Salbutamol isn't banned. It also doesn't have any 'enhancing' effects, isn't used as a weight loss drug and doesn't work as a masking agent. The limit on Salbutamol in an athlete's system is there to protect the athlete from potentially taking too much of a substance where known side effects can be harmful (the suggestion being that the rider should be pulled from the race if their asthma is that bad as it could potentially be lethal). So Froome hasn't 'failed a drugs test'. The biggest problem with this kind of shit is the media deliberately getting it wrong and then saying it's 'technically' the same thing, when it most certainly is not.
Another example of the 'good' in sport being driven, and tainted, by money and power.
Seeking relief from pain or discomfort by medication - with the consent of the White Coats - is understandable. What is gained in so doing? Relief - but with no additional benefit? Or relief with additional benefit - and that which is previously known about, and desired?
I seek sport that has integrity at its core and participants and administrators that are true and honest. Years of experience have led me to believe that some seek advantage where others do not and, thus, the 'game' is skewed. Ditto politics. Ditto the human being; decent in many aspects, less so in others.
I have watched Bradley since he was a teenager, have spoken with him on numerous occasions and admire both his athleticism and his non-conformist persona. I believe that he took the advice of his advisors and, in so doing, the system in place has done for him.
August 1st 2012, in Kingston, remains one of my happiest and most memorable of days. Vive le velo!

The trouble is athletes are often given poor advice. There is a history within cycling of teams putting pressure on their team members to perhaps bend the rules - for a cyclist starting out the pressure is enormous.

Sir Bradley Wiggins has "lost absolutely everything and doesn't have a penny" after bankruptcy, reveals lawyer
The five-time Olympic champion and 2012 Tour de France winner “does not have an address” and has been forced to “sofa surf”, with his lawyer claiming that he got “ripped off” and “shafted” on his finances by “army of so-called advisers”
Wiggins back story is a wild ride (excuse the pun) - his dad left him and his mum when Wiggins was 2, and his dad was a hard drinking maniac, it has been said that he has inherited some of those traits - Wiggins himself admits that he liked to booze when he was younger - I think he has always been on the edge in life, but blessed with the ability that he has on a bicycle
I know he fell off the wagon after his first gold at the 2004 Greece Olympics, but managed to pick himself up and compete at Beijing in 2008. He was in a dark place when he came back from Greece and he wrote at the time that coming down from such a high there didn't seem anything left so he went on the piss. It looks as if history is repeating itself but this time with more money involved and a great degree of devastation.
Seems to have been badly advised but to be honest (and this may sound very harsh) I’m struggling to have a huge amount of sympathy for someone to piss away the sort of money most people could not dream of.
Had a lot of hangers on and companies who used him. I saw this first hand, especially immediately after 2012.
A lot of his problems stems back to the loss of his Father and majorly the sexual abuse which he suffered. The media didn't seem that interested in that....Nothing is straight forward as it seems.
To be honest, hes always come across as a bit of a helmet to me. I suppose top level sports stars need a certain level of belief and arrogance about them, but I've never warmed to him and dont have a great deal of sympathy for him spunking all his dough.
Lot of support and sympathy for Wiggins and why not. Sounds like a not completely smooth upbringing and it would seem that there are generally demons found in those cases. Badly advised re finances and he is where he is. Is it very much different to that of Katie Price on another thread ? Her birth father left when she was four and although there’s nothing to indicate any childhood trauma of note, it doesn’t mean there are not demons lurking. She’s also been poorly advised and has had her fair share of personal battles and of course has a severely disabled son. I hope both come through their current battles stronger and wish them both well.
I read Wiggins "explanation" of where things went wrong with his various companies. Made absolutely no sense to me - and I suspect it still makes no sense to him either as it was bullshit.

No just the modelling career from the age of 13 around lots of adult men.
The problem with celebrity is how can you tell who your real friends are, or advisers that want what's best for you? Too many hangers-on and people that want to exploit your fame rather than look after you.

When he says 'liked a booze', I wonder what he means... Me and my friends drank stupid amounts of alcohol etc in our late teens / early 20s, and most of us carried on for later than that and there's two things I can tell you - - None of us would've been able to compete at his level of cycling at any point in our lives. - We've all managed to not go bankrupt, even though I doubt any of us were in the same league, financially, as Wiggo once was.
Other than that; anyone after the 90s having that Wellerish type thick sideburn hair-do, cannot be trusted in my experience.
