I've decided to give up my non believing stance in order to accept that a spiritual being sent his son to earth so that he could murder him for the sake of mankind.
There's a book out there, that's been split in two for convenience (because part one is f***ing nasty, and religious people don't like that part so choose to ignore it's existence) that tells us all this, so I thought I'd give it another go.
I genuinely wasn't fully aware of what 'Lent' is or what it meant so just looked it up. I now realise why I didn't have a clue about it or have no interest in it!!
Being dragged up a catholic and going to catholic schools, Lent was always a very dreary time as a youngster. It was demanded, mainly by parents (and less so by school) that we must give up something that we enjoyed which was nearly always chocolate.
Absolutely loved Shrove Tuesday (pancake day) but the next day, Ash Wednesday - that was the start of it, coming out of mass with a forehead smothered in black stuff knowing I now couldn't eat chocolate till Easter Sunday. I hated it. I never lasted on the chocolate fast.
Why would you bother giving anything up for Lent? Beats me. Life's too short.
When I was young, I used to have two sugars in my tea, one year I gave up one sugar in my tea for lent. The following year I gave up the other spoon of sugar. Since then I’ve never had sugar in my tea.

It just reminds me of being miserable.

From your earlier post i thought you meant you were giving up dirty white and also giving up refined carbs.
Am glad to hear you haven't given up the dirty white
