Really liked Tintin but loved Asterix as a nipper and read them all several times over.
"Bande dessinée" are still huge in France and they also cater for the adult grown up market with characters based in schools, le flic and my own favourites, Les Fonctionnaires.
Loved just about all of the Asterix and Tintin books I've read (have the cartoons on DVD, "for the nieces and nephews to watch"), and really enjoy any other bandes dessinees I've read Lucky Luke, Les Tunics Bleues, etc.
Just finished the Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight animated series on Netflix. I thought it was fantastic - definitely recommend. 30 mins mini-series - about six episodes- very well done, can tell there's £ behind it.
My dad worked at hodder and he was able to get hold of most of the early books that they published. Still got a couple of the originals but my brother took and sold the others the knobafix.
I always enjoyed reading Asterix and Obelix, but my favourite comic books (or Bande Dessinée in French) are the Michel Vaillant Brooks. The adventures of à young racing driver who races his father’s cars! A bit like Lance Stroll but more successful! 😀
First serialised/published in the Tintin comic books in 1957. I first got into MV at a friends house and I have recently started collecting the compendiums. I’m up to book 5 with currently another 15 to go!
I Was only saying to my daughter the other day ( a new CGI cartoon popped up on netflix) about the Astrix & TinTin books i used to read from the School library , lovely detailed drawings really pulled you into the books .
