As you lot are not too prone to visiting our thread , I thought i'd let you know that we are top of Div1 34 points clear of the next team having won 6 of our 8 games.

Having not trialed this year for Kent, Seb was asked last week if he would like to turn out for the U15s against Middlesex this Wednesday (I believe it's because they need a keeper) which he is more than to happy to do - not just because it doesn't conflict with his development playing Club cricket on a Sunday but because he will meet up with friends from other parts of the County that he has shared some great times with over the course of the last five seasons. I'm looking forward to catching up with the parents too although they probably won't think the same of me!
Those run outs did him a favour!
Well Seb managed another run out today - this wasn't his fault but, unfortunately, it happened before he faced a ball. He was one of three Kent players run out plus another who was stumped in bizarre circumstances. The batsman missed the ball and turned around to see what he thought was the ball behind the keeper - the only problem was that he saw the bowler's white marker which happened to be the same colour as the ball so took a step out of his crease!
One of the other players to be run out was Sam Hadfield. Remember this lad's name because he's going to be a star which will make the Surrey boys on here absolutely fume. He was at our poor relations until this year when he moved schools to Tonbridge School and to us.
Sam is an under 14 but playing up a year and looks 16 in stature. He bats and bowls off spin. Today he scored 46 off 36 before he was run out backing up from a drive deflected by the bowler onto the stumps. But the boy is class and a shoe in to make the Bunbury next year.
In the game itself Kent made 178 and Middlesex got them for two wickets. Enough said.

Will never be angry at good young players coming through the county system. Especially if they are coming through at sides stuck in Div 2 for the long term. There is a good chance if he is any good he will come to us anyway.

He still actually lives in Surrey and plays for a club in Surrey. But wants to play for a county going places.

Can't go much further than being top of the county championship.

And with the best recent record of bringing our own young players through.
