  • Podmore seems to have an injury, luckily we've packed the bowling for this match.
  • Thanks for all the updates, guys whilst we've been away .

2 questions on our return as we try to play catch up with all things KCCC & CAFC.

Will the quarter final at Trent Bridge be televised on Thursday and is anyone going ?

    Ta.

Unfortunately it isn't, they've chosen the Essex vs Yorkshire game!

    Worth a look!

Yet another massive score for Robinson, with useful quickfire contributions from the two other Beckenham boys Blake and MacVicar!

Robinson is in a rich seam of form at the moment . Top run scorer in the premier league and bashing the runs out for Kent 2’s. How long before he gets a chance in the 1st team ?
  • Interesting, but (as I replied to the article) surely the decline of the West Indies team has also had a significant effect.

How many black people in South London care about cricket now, whereas back in the 70s and 80s seeing them destroy England was a massive source of pride.

It's also having the space and opportunity to actually play cricket in South London. I'm seven years older than DBD and I didn't play at all at primary age and only very occasionally in my teens. Neither of my schools had a cricket team or devoted any time to it in PE.
  • Gloucestershire 132-2 both lbw one to podmore and the other to Thomas
  • Gonna end a bore draw unless we up the wicket taking rate

  • Surprising that neither of our main bowlers have taken a wicket yet
  • Now 183-3 podmore got the wicket of Dent for 76
  • 200-4 Denny got Bracey for 27
  • Is Riley injured ?
  • I would say yes as he’s only bowled 3.2 overs this innings
  • Taylor’s out now LBW Denly getting interesting now at 207-5 Gloucestershire need another 133 to avoid a innings defeat
  • New ball is due, but Riley is bowling the 81st over? Is the old ball turning sideways?

Henry gets the 83rd over, so presumably the new ball has now been taken. Couple of quick wickets would be nice!

I think the .2 was from last night where Podmore had an injury worry.
  • 219 - 6 now.

  • 6 down. Anyone know how many overs to bowl?
  • 32 overs left
  • Van Burren is the key wicket there. Top scored in the first innings and need to open up an end by breaking this partnership.
  • How many overs left now ?
  • Going to be frustrated
  • The two batting now top scored in the first innings. Riley must be injured if he's only bowled 8.2 and Denly has bowled 28 overs!
  • It's a problem when you get a big score. Kent have now bowled over 200 overs without a break (except the obvious ones). I wonder whether Kent should have declared 150 runs earlier and given the bowlers a chance to refresh. Still time to do it though.

Essex 337-7 off their 50. Coles hit a six when he came in.

Big ask to chase that in the dark in my opinion. Where's David Hughes when you need him?

    One for the oldies there....

I remember it well - the game finished at almost 9.00 and it was the Gillette Cup Semi so was probably in September too!
Bathe in a bit of nostalgia. Kent feature later too.

I remember that quite well and I was only 9. I don't remember televised cricket in those days, apart from Test matches and the JPL 2 pm Sundays BBC2.
Semis from both the B&H and Gillette were shown live. The coverage would alternate between each semi. The finals of course were shown live too.
