Well done Kent, got the final 2 out in the first over of the day.

Now lets hope for a better 2nd innings.

Can we make them bat again?

    20 wickets lost. Top scores:

    51
    18
    15
    9

One person applied himself this would suggest.

We are 89-5 so, effectively, 43-5. DBD made 61 of the first 75!

Umpires clearly want this game over quickly because, of the 25 wickets to fall, 13 have been LBW!

The BB and PPL doesn't appear to have done our stand in skipper, Joe Denly, much good as he has bagged a pair in the match from 20 balls faced.
  • Options
I think we might need to work on our batting.
  • Options
    89-6. Gidman out for 1.
  • Options
    The batsmen have been Charltonised.
  • Options
153 all out for a lead of 101

15 of the 30 wickets now LBWs - try using the bloody bat!!!!

As well as getting stuffed we risk a points deduction for a poor pitch unless the umpires deem it down to atmospheric conditions and rank poor batting.

They only had 586 runs in total at Lord's of which Northants made only 213 in their two innings as against our 217 - so if they do something to us then they have to do something to Middlesex?

Think of the potential flak if they criticise a test ground and then later in the summer England's opponents are bowled out cheaply.

One rule for test grounds one rule for league 2 dross I reckon...

A 5th wicket in the match for Henry. Shame we couldn't give him something to bowl at.

Does he play in a cardigan rather than a sweater?

To be fair the great cardigan himself couldn't bowl that well.

Good luck for the season my Kentish cousins

    DBD 65
    Dickson 13
    Kuhn 9
    Denly 0
    Crawley 47
    Stevens 1
    Gidman 1
    Rouse 29
    Henry 18
    Stewart 9
    Podmore 2
    Extras 23

Total 217 all out - in two innings where our whole team of batsmen couldn't even average 10 in the match.

The trip to Antigua was meant to help them start to see the ball as if it was a football. They appear to still be seeing beach balls apart from Denly who is probably still recovering from his trips to Australia and Pakistan.

Kent trying to make a fight of it but too much to do.

Gloucestershire 102-5 6 needed to win.
