Reeves looked more up for than in ages which maybe because we weren't looking for Holmes to come and collect the ball, in fact as was the whole team in the first 20 minutes we ran at them taking the game to them instead inviting them on to us. Bury decided that they better start to lean on a few players and with some big lumps in their side it started to get a little agricultural. Marshall decided at last to start hitting the by line but needs to start firing in a cross instead of floating it in for the keeper. Both centre backs looked ok with Lennon the shakier of the two, the full backs looked ok and weren't overly bothered with any threats by their wingers. Kashi just kept it fairly simple. All in all, a good result and will give them the confidence in themselves.

Pyrrhic victory but 3 points garnered against the 24 th team in the league. Bizarre times at the comedy club.1

Was sort of dreading opening this after that match. Really happy to see a lot of people saying roughly this.AFKABartram said:ALL HAIL KING ROBBO !!
Deserves massive credit with his coaching team for keeping us as a unit focused. Thought a dispirited away defeat was inevitable with everything going so rightly deserves some plaudits for this.
An incredibly difficult week. 5 subs, if that, on the bench. One of our top players leaving and another rumored to be following. 10+ injuries. Three points.
I'll go out on a limb and say our most important win of the season to date given all that's gone on.
Obviously it wasn't pretty. Potato field of a pitch. Bury did what has become a common tactic against us, just kick us every time we built up a head of steam. These are the games I would expect us to struggle in even with a fit squad, but we pulled it out.
Thought Konsa was absolutely immense. Maybe his last game in a Charlton shirt but he got on the end of everything that went back there.
Mav looks dangerous every time he gets the ball. Kashi really grew into that game in the second half, and as he improved, we improved. Aribo got stuck in and while he wasn't always at his best, he looks a real player and he made the goal. Marshall's goal wasn't pretty, his season hasn't been pretty, but right place right time and it was a huge goal.
I've run out of superlatives for Jay DaSilva. He just never stops running, and he's combining really well with Mav.
Lastly, hopefully some of you saw today why we waited so long on Reeves and were willing top take on a player without a pre-season. His touch is really good. He works hard. He always seems to find space, and he can pick a pass. He gets it and brings others into the game. He's that player willing to get the ball in tight spaces that we've been so desperately lacking since Clarke went off the boil/got hurt.
Good on Robinson for getting a performance out of them. He should still be derided for his 5 on the bench stunt, but he got a win after a dreadful week.
Not the prettiest, but a win is a win and we have a week between games, which is a long time in football.19 -
A win is a win and with players being sold from under him by RM and RD, I'll take it.1

We’ve been on the ropes for the last few months and Robinson and the squad have been rolling with the punches and despite some awful performances and results we are still hanging in there.
Today wasn’t a turning point but it was three big points.
Now bring on a takeover next week and a few players the week after.

If we can pick up 3 more wins we should stay up.
Anything better in the present circumstances will be a bonus.0 -

On my third visit to Gigg Lane, I at last see not only a Charlton goal but a Charlton victory. After all the recent shenaligans, Karl, the team and the fans can be proud of themselves this afternoon.
Enjoyed a pint of Caffreys in the Staff of Life before the game and joined up with my Addicks supporting friends from Stockport. Never underestimate the national level of support of this great club.16 -

Out of interest, how many games has Harry Lennon been back in the side? Seems that since he’s been in we’ve kept a couple clean sheets.9

I've been sticking up for him for a couple of seasons and been given stick for doing so.Greenie Junior said:Out of interest, how many games has Harry Lennon been back in the side? Seems that since he’s been in we’ve kept a couple clean sheets.
When he has been out on loan and played regularly he has done well.
The problem he has had at Charlton is that he has always been 4th or 5th choice and never been given a run in the side
I still think he will develop into a decent defender for us.9 -
A couple of seasons ago when Lennon was on loan at Gillingham, didn't they build their defence around him?blackpool72 said:

They were comfortably in the play off positions when Charlton suddenly recalled him - and afterwards without him, their season collapsed.

Really glad to see us stick it out for the win. Got a bit worried by the end (neutral mate with me said he could see why I get nervy any time they're in our half, even when they'd been absolutely shocking all match).
Overall, a lot of good to take from the match given the circumstances. Da Silva and Mav working well is at least a silver lining to come out of the loss of Holmes.
Konsa looked good, shame if that's his last match in our shirt but good luck to him.
Reeves and Marshall looking like much better players today too.
Happy for the team and KR for grinding a win out in difficult circumstances!0 -
Two wins and two clean sheets in a row but it doesn't feel like it. Sums up the state of the club at the moment.
Awful first half full of long balls, second wasn't much better. Came alive a bit when we scored and Mavididi and Dasilva the bright sparks. Really not much to report.1 -

As Jake Forster-Caskey wasn't match fit and was only on the bench to show solidarity. Could it be the 1st case of a player being stretchered on to the pitch ?10

PWR
Yay
PWR....written for a reason, but I am aware that saying posting without reading is for some lifers a comment one step away from internet apocalypse.
Stream.
Today certainly wasn't a smash and grab, but it was a grind out 1-0 away, but any other result than a win would have been very disappointing against a weak Bury team.
We still fail to take the chances we make, in the first half the mouthwatering combo of Mavididi and Jay fashioned a lot of opportunities, but the balls flashed across failed to be swept in...JFC would have been handy for some of those.
Nobody was poor or below average today, and I enjoyed Aribo adding to a good mid-season series of performances. Not a great game, the Amos booking was weird, but he would've got booked at some point anyway.
It was grim up north but we got in, got the points and got out, so some consolation for Blackburn and Southend away.5 -
Well, despite what we were told before the match - JFC did in fact come on in the 88th minute.soapboxsam said:As Jake Forster-Caskey wasn't match fit and was only on the bench to show solidarity. Could it be the 1st case of a player being stretchered on to the pitch ?
I dread Monday's news that JFC is now out for 6 weeks with a torn 'something else'.

First game I’ve seen for ages (eventually on ifollow) and I thought we were comfortable against a shit team in what is a shit league .
Like Reeves a bit lightweight but he’s a player , Aribo and Konsa decent and Mavidi showed some flashes .
Driving home from kids footy training this morning and my 7 year old asked if he could be a mascot when Roland sells , the more I think about it the more I wanna rip that old twunts heart out and shove it up his arse .

Something Gillingham's manager said around that time.
Maybe I've got it wrong.
