  • Thank you. That’s great, I’ll visit for the first time with my son. I have no idea why I haven’t been yet, although we travel over from Essex. Looking forward to it.

    Open every Friday 11.00-14.30.
  • Huge thanks to @Solidgone for donating the shirt he won in @medders raffle

  • New donation: Note book from the Charlton Athletic Suppoters' Development Association, an early 1960s fundraising group that paid for Charlton's first floodlights. Sort of an early Valley Gold.

At least one well known surname, Treadgold, on that list of winners.

We have no idea why the matchbox covers but there are pages & pages of them and like stamps they were collected by some in that era.

I noticed what I assume is a typo, the 4th address down states Upper Norwood bandit country, but has been given an SE9 post code?

(Just googled it, Upper Norwood is se19)
  • Good few donations recently

Away travellers of a certain age will instantly recognise these Lewis Coaches booking slips from 1958 to Ipswich and, we think, 1966 to Norwich. Part of a big recent donation from the Town family.

  • Some items from a different donation from a member of staff who looked after the dressing rooms in the 90s

  • Get yourself one of the old floodlights in the coming weeks?
  • More formal times: 1950s Supporters' Club newsletters showing dance photos plus a menu with ticket for an early 60s dinner & dance signed by Eddie Firmani.

Didn't even get a Player of the Year dinner last season.

Part of the recent Town family donation to the museum.

already asked for one and was told we can have 50!
has the work started, and interested to know why these events happened in Lewisham and not more locally
  • Not started as far as I know.

    Will check Friday.

The 50s dances, at least some, as described in the Red Robin mags were in Greenwich Town Hall.

No idea why Chiesmans was chosen, perhaps just a good localish venue.

We should bring back formal wear for supporters club events. Maybe the club shop can sell replica suits.

  • If I remember rightly Colin Cowdrey was married to a Chiesman and Derek Ufton played cricket with Colin (so the club might have got a discount)
  • Colin Cowdrey was married to Stuart Chiesman’s daughter Penny.
  • There was a Chiesmans department store in Gravesend back in the day - had a restaurant on top floor, with view over the Thames - great store - I recall our next door neighbour (when I was a lad) worked for them - if I recall correct, they were bought by House of Fraser

better get some new sunglasses ordered.
  • Very hard to find 50s reserves programmes

  • Some non-Charlton programmes

The pirate Sunderland v Spurs programme is probably the rarest and so most valuable.

The Managers XI included, according to the programme, three former Addicks; Bartram, Welsh and Stock. The showbiz team lists Sean Connery.
  • Privileged to have been able to contribute to young Ethan's fund by purchasing this special #cafc shirt, worn v Watford, for the museum.

Gofundme details below if you are able to help

That's lovely @Henry Irving and I saw it with my own eyes yesterday too. I only came down a few months ago, but on yesterdays visit I was so impressed that since then there has been a refresh of new items/displays, so it is always worth a regular revisit I say.
  • Part of a donation of items from Wyn Grant.

Match issued and signed Keith Jones shirt
