Uriah Rennie was the worst for me. As someone said on another thread you shouldn't notice a good ref yet he thought the fans were there to see him. Pr*ck.

not a referee. In cricket they call them umpires, Davy
In the early days of the football league there were two umpires, one from each side. If the umpires couldn't agree on a decision then they appealed to the independent referee.
[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]I like Rennie. If players moaned he booked them but then he was told to stop it. Always seems an honest ref who gives big decisions against big clubs.
Ah at last someone else who says this- last time i complemented Rennie, people looked at me as if i was completely mad.
Too easy that - the players should be responsible for their own behaviour so that the ref can get on with decisions. It must be like running a creche out there sometimes. Some refs are bad, but the players will always make them look worse.

Worst was definately Barry Knight. The mockery he made of the play-off semi between Ipswich and Bolton was the most inept display in the history of the game.
Can't believe no one has mentioned Gurnam Singh....
Agree - I thought Singh was probably the best and most consistent ref I've seen.
Collina was good and Kim Moller-Nielsen was an excellent ref, as was Anders Frisk. Also like Urs Meier and Garcia-Aranda - they both handle big games very well.
Worst of the lot is probably that (Uruguayan?) twat who refereed the yanks vs Italy in the last world cup - THAT was a shocking performance
For consistently piss-poor performance, of the current lot I despise Rennie, Webb, Wiley and Styles but none of them come close to Paul Danson - arrogant
Was it Singh or another Asain referree who was demoted despite having some of the highest assessor scores. Complained, quite rightly, and uncovered a lot of racism behind the decision such as notes saying "we don't want people like that referring at the top level" etc, etc.
I agree with Sco, dissent is a cautionable offence and Rennie cautioned for it and then the FA tell him not to? Why don't they let referees just ref? Players will always moan it's just the way you deal with it and don't forget every single referee has a different tolerance level. Mine was tested to the full the last full game I did last month. No not the one at The Valley!!! :o) Also no one can really moan about Premiership referees. The European ones are worse in my opinion as a level 4 referee in waiting. That one in the Liverpool game who sprinted 50 metres to show a yellow card then had to catch his breath cos he very slightly overweight?! They caution for the slightest think in Europe and it spoils games. English referees have a good reputation in Europe. Graham Poll wasn't so bad just his reputation (World Cup) went before him this season.
I think we do need to start respecting the refs...they work hard, they are under a lot of pressure, they only get to see a foul or incident once unlike us who have Sky and see it a thousand times. They will make mistakes, but without the ref, you wouldn't have a game!

the ginger one? he was pants!
As for worst again I think that will depend on how he treats your team. Halsey has never done us many favours nor has Riley.

Agree - met him in a curry house in Oldham and talked about his next match NEWCASTLE v CHARLTON! (we won)!
