Amos 6 no chance with their goal, a few good saves but he kept slowing our tempo down even when we wanted to go for the win.
Solly (c) 6.5 better defensively and going forward than previous weeks
Bauer 6.5 defended well but should have scored one of his 2 golden opportunities.
Pearce 7 he was a monster today.
Dasilva 7 did well, offers an outlet going forward.
Kashi 6 marshalled the midfield well but again he offers nothing going forward and slows us down.
Forster-Caskey 8 MOM thought he played brilliantly today, constantly trying to drive us forward and make things happen, sadly no one around him was trying to do the same!
Fosu 5 I rate him him and he kept trying but his decision making today was woeful, also gets knocked off the ball very easily and isn't as quick as I first thought.
Clarke 7.5 nearly MOM this bloke works harder than anyone I've seen in a Charlton shirt and has the touch of class to make things happen going forward. I'll admit I wasn't impressed when we signed him after reviews given by Bradford fans but happy to eat humble pie he is far and away my player of the year so far.
Ahearne-Grant 5 what is he actually good at?
Magennis 7 took his goal well and was unlucky not to score the winner at the end. Still doesn't look 100% fit to me.
Konsa 6 a few nice touches but we needed a more attacking player to come on.

Overall we were pretty disjointed today and the lack of urgency and tempo was very frustrating. Bury were terrible but we never really looked like winning it. Our lack of attacking options off the bench was criminal. Yet again we look like we have a decent first XI and then El Douche leaves us massively short in terms of squad depth but would we expect anything else from the tightest multimillionaire in history?

  • Disappointing that so many are writing off KAG who is playing out of position. The guy is a striker not a winger. Best played in a 4-4-2 with a target man to make runs off.

Amos 6.5 - Didn't really do anything wrong, didn't have a lot to do.

Solly (c) 6.5 - Goals seem to come down his side. But he grew into the game and was good going forward. He still worries me sometimes though.

Bauer 7 - Solid. Reads the game well. Missed a header six yards out and for him he should be ridiculed for that.

Pearce 6.5 - Good shouty pwopa English center back. Distribution is not great but otherwise solid.

Dasilva 8.5 - MOTM He was very good. Great close control. Got forward well. Lovely little mazy dribbler. He also gets into passing lanes to stop the ball. Had a header or deflection on a header at the back post from a very dangerous cross. Only criticism with him is he could do with getting crosses in a bit more.

Kashi 8 - I saw something different to others. Broke up play incredibly well. Hunted, harried, hassled their defense. Rarely gave the ball away. Though he was back to his best.

Forster-Caskey 8 - Got forward and into the box really, really well. Had the assist for the goal. Had a couple excellent dead balls. Had his header saved point-blank.

Fosu 7 - Ran at them and caused them a lot of problems. He must have drawn 10 fouls on the day. Was his decision making always right? No. But if I were KAG I'd look at him and see that confidence to keep going even when things don't come off. He's going to be a good un.

Clarke 7.5 - In the first 30 minutes he dropped far too deep. It was the same problem he had against Wigan. But after that he grew into the game. His hard work, passing, and positional sense allows JFC to run beyond him into the box. Things didn't quite come off for him today which was a theme.

Ahearne-Grant 6 - I don't think he was quite as bad as some have said, though he wasn't great. His movement off the ball looked better. He is big and strong. It didn't come off for him.

He just wants it SO badly. I just want to say to him "try 10% less." I believe he has the tools--pace, strength, decent on the ball, to be good at this level.

Magennis 8 - Caused them problems despite not getting much service and he scored a goal. Averages a goal every 168 minutes according to the BBC. Not bad for someone who is derided as not being a good finisher.

Konsa 6 - Could see what Karl was trying to do with him, swarm the midfield a bit more. He's very good on the ball, but wasn't able to do much other than draw the foul that FINALLY lead to a booking and get booked himself for diving.

I think if you read past the first few comments on the match reaction thread you'll find a lot of us thought it wasn't that bad of a performance just not quite good enough.
  • Amos - 6: a good save from Maguire in the first half but a relatively quiet afternoon
Solly (c) - 6: did ok defensively, with a lot of Bury's attacks (such as they were) coming through their left wing back. Got forward well in the second half when Bury dropped deep.
Bauer - 6.5: I thought he gave Beckford too much room to come inside for their goal but, in fairness, it was an outstanding strike. Our principal threat from corners, although should probably have got at least one of his headers on target
Pearce - 7.5: very dominant, especially when we were up against it in the first half - i.e. exactly when we needed him. I hope he recovers quickly from his injury
Dasilva - 7: a quiet first half but much better in the second
Kashi - 6: a poor start to the game but gradually improved
Forster-Caskey - 6.5: a superb cross for the goal. Moved the ball reasonably well but sometimes not quite quickly enough
Fosu - 6.5: excellent in the first half, not so good in the second. He sometimes makes the wrong decisions - usually to try a highly speculative shot, rather than to pass to better-placed colleagues - but at least he can go past the opposition, break their shape and open things up
Clarke - 7: some neat and intelligent play and one magnificent example of tracking back and winning the ball on our left flank in the first half
Ahearne-Grant - 4.5: should have done better with his lob in the first half and struggled to make an impact. Seemed strangely reluctant to hug the touchline in order to try and stretch Bury when they were sitting deep in the second half. Was he under instructions to keep coming inside ?
Magennis - 6.5: as usual, he didn't have much support but scored, went close at the end and led the line pretty well
Konsa - 6.5: added a bit of zip and running power to our midfield

True. I wondered about that too
  • Amos 6.5 can be slow throwing the ball out which allows the other side to press. Goal kick means just giving them the ball back. Even if big Mag wins it, who is he meant to pass it too?

Clarke 8 Everywhere. Some great defending and all our good stuff involved him to a great extent.
Ahearne-Grant 6 If only he had controlled that lob properly. Worked hard.

This was a tedious game of football and our players looked no better than the Bury lot and they are in the bottom 3. Every one has learnt how to play Charlton, and that is not to give are players particularly Pearce Baur and Kashi any time on the ball. Are players seemed too need 2mins or more to make up their minds to pass the ball across the pitch and back while not being a aware of the presence of opposing players.

    Amos 7 - Didn't do anything wrong
Solly 5.5 - good couple of crosses, went missing for their goal, lost so much pace
Bauer 7.5 - The two centre backs are our strongest positions, very good partnership, Bauer a constant threat from attacking set plays.
    Pearce 7.5 - see above
DaSilva 5.5 - did ok but lacked end product
Kashi 6 - looks edgy on the ball of late, breaks up the play incredibly well though
Forster-Caskey 7 - has got serious quality, great assist for the goal, got in some good attacking positions second half
Fosu 6 - Had a poor game but at least he wasn't afraid to run at players and make things happen
Clarke 7 - tidy little player
    Aherne-Grant 5.5 - not good enough
Magennis 6.5 - +1 for the goal but he was dire, the simple pass he misplaced when 2 on 1 was unforgivable.
Konsa 5 - Stop playing a CB in midfield!!

A poor performance against one of the worst teams in the league, we have picked up 4 points from 12 against the current bottom 4, no options of the bench, sluggish and serious lack of cutting edge.

Dunno if I missed the cutoff to contribute but here's mine anyway - live at the match, last time for the foreseeable I suspect:

Amos 7 - Not much to to do did what he could/needed to. Not at fault for the goal. I know others disagree but I feel fairly confident in him.
Solly 6 - got up and down the pitch and always contributes but is looking less solid defensively. For me the formation leaves him exposed though, was better second half whne it seemed to me that KR had told the wingers to drop back deeper and help their fullbacks more. Caught upfield for the goal though, but I think that is partly a problem with KR wanting the fullbacks high up the pitch leaving us vulnerable to a well placed long ball.
Bauer 6.5 - Solid, might have done better for the goal though and maybe should have scored from one excellent JFC free-kick.
Pearce 8 - Old school. Won nearly everything that came his way.
DaSilva 7 - Quiet first half, but did some excellent work in the second.
Kashi 6.5 - Mixed bag. Was one of the worst in a poor opening 20 or 30 mins, but as he started tio assert himself in midfield so did we start to dominate possession. Broke it up well and always wants to get the ball under control and play the simple ball. Hi influence on the game is entirely in out own half, but, when "Plan A" is working it is working because he does the work that allows JFC, Clarke, and the wingers to focus on attack.
Forster-Caskey 7.5 - Great cross for the goal plus one or two other excellent set piece deliveries. Worked hard to get on the ball and take responsibility for driving us forward but couldn't quite make that decisive contribution second half.
Fosu 6.5 - Frustrating. Got on the ball lots, never hid and covered some serious distance up and down the left in the second half. Should have had more protection from the ref when repeatedly cynically fouled. However, often did the hard bit getting past his man and then had a heavy touch or made a poor choice to shoot/pass. On his heels when Big Mag tried to play him in for a 1 on 1. Doesn't deserve the stick he's got from this one, but I think he could use a rest. Not really an option though until players are coming back fit, especially if Clarke is injured.
Clarke 7 - like him, very tidy. If he'd been able to play on I'm sure we'd have one but the momentum that was building second half petered out when he was replaced by the ineffectual and disinterested looking Dodoo.
Aherne-Grant 6 - struggled to really influence the game and was trying too hard at times imo, needs to relax a bit, what a difference it might have made if he could have taken one of the half chances that came his way. Like Fosu though, he never hid and got himself into the game by making runs and going in search of the ball. I'll cut him some slack for that and he is still very young. Being written off too easily by too many imo, but isn't ready to be a regular starter yet. I expect to see him again vs Walsall as I doubt Clarke will be fit.
Magennis 6.5 - Took his goal well and worked hard but didn't win many flick ons and a few attacks faltered on some heavy touches by him.
Konsa 6 - Didn't do a whole lot wrong, but not sure why he was brought on really. I'd have left KAG on for a bit longer myself, but Aribo is surely the natural sub if you want to bring a midfielder to aid the attack. Had we been leading and under pressure maybe it would have made sense, but we needed a goal and Konsa is a defender.
