I am unaware of any post match from Robinson but as far as I am concerned Bury got a deserved draw. They scored a lovely goal from Beckford and their goalkeeper made a couple of good saves and in Greg Leigh (No 3) they had arguably the best player in today's game. To be fair we scored a lovely yet desperately needed goal, and we had spells of pressure but ultimately it was a Sladesque result, and we know what the regime did with him! Robinson had to change something, anything, towards the end of the match in order to try to force a result but essentially he had no cards to play. With Holmes we might well have won, and there may be truth in the notion that Holmes Marshall and Reeves being out is significant, however for an hour, until the Konsa substitution more or less, Reeves apparent rival, Clarke, was our best player. I also thought da Silva and Fosu played well, and Maginnis did the best with what he had to work with.
Not a great or inspiring game in the slightest, and a reminder that we are well capable of being not good enough this season yet again.
If we win at both Walsall and Fleetwood we will be one point ahead of target, lose them both we are five points behind, I can't see us winning either game and we are now getting to the point where the message will probably be 'stay in touch and improve in January'. A squad is supposed to be structured where there is competition for places, but given the balance of our current squad I fail to see who's place is particularly under threat, and there is the problem, no plan B and no squad depth. Right now I am feeling that we might have enough to avoid relegation, but we certainly don't seem equipped to wrest success in this division from the other teams.
Can't believe Robinson took KAG off and left fosu on, fosu was absolutely terrible. when he got the ball he either fell over or ran straight into a bury player. Our bench resembles a kindergarten at the moment, top six budget my arse!
You should be forced, Clockwork Orange style, to watch the entire game again with your eyes held open. And electrocuted every time Fosu wins a free kick
...I think I watched a different match from some of you.
Thought Kashi was absolutely class. Won everything, hassled, harried, and rarely gave the ball away.
DaSilva was very good. JFC was very good. Fosu must have drawn about 10 free kicks, and the game might have been different if their right back had been booked for one of the first five.
Complete one way traffic in the second half. Created some good chances (Magennis, JFC, Bauer/Pearce) and just didn't take them. We were missing that little bit of extra quality that a Reeves, Ricky, or Marshall would bring.
Think people's minds would be different if Duchatalatet just sold the club & we were rid of Meire & the rest of the regime fan boys & apologists. I think a lot of people went into this looking for what they were going to see. Bury had two good chances and to their credit they took one. Complete one-way traffic in the second half. If we play like that most weeks we'll win a lot more than we lose.
I'm a fan boy and an apologist now? Because I thought we played well when others didn't? The fuck?
Wasnt referring to you SD but there are plenty that have happily & swiftly swept the toxicity of the Belgian regime under the carpet after a handful of wins in a mediocre division under a mediocre manager.
I just cannot be enthused or making excuses after a grim 1-1 draw in L1 over Bury under the stewardship of an inept SMT & an owner that has no interest whatsoever in Charlton Athletic.
More than fair enough. And I should have been clearer: the result is not good enough. End of. I was not excited about it. I just don't think we were terrible today. And we are missing what *might* be our first choice attacking three: Reeves, Holmes, and Marshall.
Regarding Roland selling, hopefully goes without saying I wholeheartedly agree. My current thinking is the most likely/fastest way for him to sell is for us to get out of this division. It seems, going on both the sale of part of STTV and the back and forth that went on over the summer, he is willing to sell. But going on what was coming out of the negotiations over the summer, I cannot see him having his valuation matched while we're in this division. Such is his apparent valuation, plus the fact that we're in League One, I genuinely worry about someone who would buy us for 50m or whatever right now. Would new owners be worse than him? Probably not. But of course it's hard to say, not to mention the ridiculous possibility of having new owners with Roland retaining The Valley.
That's my thought process here. That's why I try to remain positive about things, because I think the only way out is up.
Think some of the above comments are a little harsh. We didn't win for 3 reasons - 1st 20 mins we allowed them way too much room (particularly Bauer and Pearce), we didn't have a final ball, and the ref didn't punish Bury's persistent fouling early enough.
No, it wasn't a promotion winning display but compared to last season we were world class!
Kashi has had a long term injury and on return most players have a severe loss of form after about six games. Hopefully this is what is happening to him and we will reap the rewards after persevering with him......but with this lot probably not.
He needs to be rotated and rested, not run into the ground
I appreciate I'm a drum beater for the more realistic amongst us, this is chickens coming home to roost for 2 things
1) woeful investment in the squad 2) refusal from who I see as a very naive manager in any sort of flexibility and being a complete arse kisser to the regime through desperation to remain relevant and employed
This. Robinson is a good coach but is tactically poor at adapting to game situations.
Thank goodness for the takeover by The University of Greenwich or else there really wouldn't have been anyone there! Crowd officially under 10k (9895) and looked even fewer. Jackpot prize of £202! Will soon be better to win the £100 for second.
We made a poor Bury side look good for half an hour then stopped arsing about for 15 mins and played some reasonable stuff. Second half I thought we'd win it but were pretty ineffectual. Loads of huff and puff but only three good chances.
The timewasting and weak refereeing is really beginning to get me down now. It's no fun to watch and it is simply being allowed to happen. Cards out and it would stop overnight.
I suspect with a firing Ricky in the team we'd have won comfortably but the limitations of our squad have been obvious for a while. Not sure how to mark Fosu in the rankings. Incredibly frustrating decision making and second/third touches yet responsible for almost all our attacking threat. Hope this boy gets the chance to mature into the real deal with us as I really like him but he's got whipping boy written all over him at the moment. I suspect if he hadn't played today we really would have created sod all.
KAG tried hard but he's just not up to it I'm afraid. League 2 player. Josh left to do too much on his own with little service from a deep sitting midfield. All too predictable and I suspect a good team would have taken us apart. Good job there are very few of those in this league. We need a win soon or this is going to turn into a struggle.
The irritating children behind me didn't turn up. Hoorah.

Problem is @SDAddick, I think Duchatelet's price will go up if we find ourselves back in the Championship. He has an unrealistic view of the value of the club at whatever level we are. The crux will come when he runs out of young stars to sell in order to offset (some of) the operating losses. I really think they were touting Konsa around in the summer but couldn't generate too much interest at this stage. And who else is there coming through that could possibly generate decent money?
Duchatelet has done well, in his own terms, in making the player farm concept work so far. A couple of fallow years without a payback may cause him to think again.

I'm torn on this because I agree on the one hand, but on the other, given the players we have available today, what was he to do? Against Gillingham we started just lumped the ball forward in the last 20 minutes and we looked awful. Even against Wigan when we got pushed back far too deep we tried to go direct to Josh too often and it was meat and drink for their big CBs.
Fosu was absolutely terrible today. Didn’t have a clue what he was doing. Worst game I’ve seen Billy Clarke play today. Thank god for Big Josh to at least grab us a point. I was in the we’re going to have a good season camp after the first few games, but the squad depth and no plan b now has me thinking that mid table is all we can expect. Robinson will be gone by January

This is a good example as to how we see things differently as supporters. For me Clarke was excellent for the first hour.

Yeah Davo, fair points, and you clearly are far better informed than I am on these matters. I genuinely sat here for a couple minutes just putting my hands up in the air and shrugging my shoulders. I don't know. I don't know what gets him out.
The protest efforts (for which you deserve a lot of credit) have been excellent. He is clearly unsettled. Unfortunately in a way, we still have some very good young, salable assets--Konsa, Aribo, and Dijksteel, plus JFC and Fosu look like players who could be "flipped" for more money than they were brought in for.
I think it's safe to assume that he'll want more money in the Championship. It's more a question of if that increase in asking price becomes a better investment given we're a level below the Premiership. And that's of course assuming a reasonable investor(s) comes along at some point. Again, I have no clue.
That is almost as poor as our first 30 minutes which was all over the place.
Bury did that pressing us high up the pitch thing that scouts have seen stop us playing and again it worked.
Thankfully we scored and we were on top without creating too many clear cut chances while Bury still had a few sights of goal.
If we'd won it at the end with Magennis' header it wouldn't have been a robbery but we didn't and Bury deserved their point.
I made Fosu MOTM as he tried to make things happen. KAG was subbed off when we were playing our best football and he was using his pace to get at them. Like Konsa as a defender but bringing him on meant moving Clarke and JFC. What does it add or change?
Not a terrible performance and Bury, credit to them, were a horrible team to play against but they are bottom four and a two team should be beating them
Meanwhile 1 point from 9 isn't promotion form.
Lots of talk of missing Marshall and Reeves but neither have played a league game and we lost to Gills with Holmes.
Clarke went off I jured and Pearce took a knock. Worrying given our options off the bench.
Don't want to slate Dodoo too much as he was another player out of position but he looks lost.
Oh, 9895 at home on a Saturday and with an offer to Greenwich University students. Can't be CARD's fault so where is the big change we've been told has happened.
...I think I watched a different match from some of you.

None of us know for certain mate. He's a mad old bastard, that's for sure.
Where the fuck is Reeves. I know he didn't get a pre season but that's his effing fault. How many weeks has he been getting up to speed ? If he's not actually carrying a knock ? Then he is starting to get right on my goat.
One striker in the building and he's not a natural Goalscorer. Duchatelet has left the squad unbalanced yet again. Just sell the club you moron.

Fosu jogging after a through ball!

The squad is too thin. The manager utterly inflexible and the owner a c**t.
Going nowhere again. If Magennis gets injured we are fucked.
I've been cheering myself up by studying the Premier League table.

That said, hope it's not bad. I'd like to see Konsa replace Kashi on Tuesday, which would mean playing Sarr at CB.
"Dire game I reckon, 1-1"
