  • Fancy us to win this,a tight game,2-1 Charlton. Weather meant to be grim this evening, might have a bearing on the game
  • Sounding like an unchanged side 3-1 Charlton
  • Ricky Holmes is on fire, your defence is terrified
Our German's two foot higher, Will Griggs is terrified

    3-1 Addicks

PS Your pies are really dire, they're made of slugs and flies
  • My main worries are how the likes of Solly, Kashi etc will cope with two matches in quick succession and how leggy Big Josh might be.

If those concerns are unfounded then I think we can hope for at least a draw perhaps more...
  • 2-0 Charlton, draw wouldn't be the worst result but feel we will keep the momentum going.

I'm confident we'll outplay them, but a little part of me is scared of Nick Powell pulling a Ross McCormack on us. Can someone confirm to me that he's a wasteman who's ruined his career and will spend the match in Bauer's pocket?

I think he was a bit overrated in the first place. He was in a U-17 World Cup team with Nat Chalobah, JFC, Jordan Cousins, Nathan Redmond, Raheem Sterling, etc. At that age on 4-5 performances I'd have had him behind everyone I listed there, so was a little surprised when United stumped up big money a couple years later.

I think with him it's mostly injuries. He still hasn't played 90 minutes this season. On his day a very good player at this level but hoping either Bauer or Kashi or a combination thereof will have him in their pockets.
  • 2-1 Charlton. Think the impetus and mind-set is there to tough it out.
  • Storm Aileen will hit us this evening, so going to be pretty unpleasant out there with a strong wind and heavy rain...
  • If I was a Wigan player or a fan, I think that I would be worried about tonight.
Charlton are the team in form, they are scoring plenty of goals and have home advantage.
Wigan have three players suspended, which must have a bearing on the team that they play.
Undoubtably both teams will be up for this.
Even in early September this is a 6 pointer, but I think having home advantage and a vocal crowd should swing the advantage to Charlton.
I am going for a 2-0 home win.

  • Saw KR earlier preparing for the game jogging around Greenwich - full black away kit wanker. Also, he really should consider a sports bra for his paps.
  • Take a draw right now, but have a feeling we may win comfortably 4-0 to us.

I have a similar feeling but feel like I am tempting fate saying it!

Agh, can't get to this one. Used up my passes last night with the screening of Ha'way The Lads. Wife doesn't get home from work until 21:30 ish.

I guessed 2-1 for the last match, so I'm obviously the in-form striker. I'm going for 2-0 tonight with Colclough out.
    Magennis and Clarke.

I noticed when reading the comments here after Saturdays game that a lot of people are concerned about Amos. I thought that Phillips did well when given a chance last season, I wouldn't mind him getting his chance again, we need someone with the confidence to lead the defence vocally, and try to put a stop to late goals that can cost points.

Amos had two relatively poor games at the start of the season, but since then has done very well. On Saturday he had two big guys to battle through to get to the ball, so he looked a little fragile maybe. But goalkeeping is partly about confidence, and dropping him might destroy his.

"Jogging around Greenwich" or making good his escape after pilfering several bags of Percy Pigs from M & S Food?

Also, he really should consider a sports bra for his paps.

....and a gag for his over-active gob.
  • 1-0 Pearce against his former club! Might have a fiver on that. 175/1 with paddy power!

Thanks to your fiver he's 35/1 now :-(

I think people are underestimating the effect Aileen will have on the game and our style of play. We may need plans B and C tonight, so it will be interesting to see what KR will turn to.

  • When was the last time we faced a team with two homophones in their back line?

    Sorry, I'm new here. What's a homophone?

I've predicted 2-0 but has a quid on 3-2 for the value.

We are averaging 2.6 goals per league game, wigan 1.6 - so 2-1 or 3-2 to us

It's a bit early for averages to mean anything I think?

Following the Brexit repeal bill vote, I have a feeling the match will be postponed shortly before kick off due to a Wigan fan trying to smuggle in a banana under his flat cap which doesn't quite meet EU Regulations in relation to straightness/curliness.

There never were any EU Regulations in relation to straightness/curliness. That was one of the many myths put out by The Daily Mail that led to the Leave vote.
  • First home game of the season for me tonight, can't wait! 2-0 addicks
  • Agree with others that it could be tough but I expect a 2-1 win, one more each for Holmes and Bauer.
  • Wigan have three players suspended, if their squad is anything like ours then 3 players out means they're bang in trouble for tonight. Bookies have it on a knife edge.

I can only find Dunkley and Colclough who are suspended. Is there someone I'm missing?

Neither of them are starters I don't think.

Wigan look likely to start with Burn and Bruce at center half. But good players for this level, big, strong, physical and good in the air. But both are quite slow, Burn in particular. If we can find a way to get them turned, either through intricate build up play and slipping runners in from wide or deep, or by sitting back and hitting them quickly on the counter, I think we could have a lot of joy.
  • I think a few changes to our team might be in store tonight? Also we are due to concede first in a match. 2-0 to Wigan and we bump back down to earth a little.

I hope not - keep as is if possible
  • Could be a close encounter tonight...with plenty of goals, hoping we make the extra one count...
    Addicks to win 3-2

Thanks in advance to anyone who keeps the updates going on the match thread...well appreciated
  • A loss would be a set back
A Draw would be a good result
A Win would be a great result

Wigan are a step up in class on the teams we have played so far this season.

    1-1 draw.

This. I'd take a draw, especially as we're playing Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday and we have two crucial players (Solly and Kashi) who haven't had to play three times in a week this season, plus Magennis who was on international duty last week.
