Betting is dreadful blight that is unfortunately  legal. The number of horses injured and destroyed. Greyhounds callously destroyed once they are retired. The corruption and crime associated with gambling is a real problem

The people who lives are destroyied by their terrible addiction, families who are suffering when their parents/ children succumb to gambling.
Behave. Corruption and crime associated with one of the most regulated industries?

Hope you don’t have the odd drink mate, as alcohol causes 10 times the issues as gambling
You are of course quite right. But once I have had a drink I don’t go and shoot an animal because it is of no further use and not cost effective to keep. Much better to slaughter it.
Not you - but there are too many people (mainly men) who get pissed, kill themselves or other people on the road, and if they manage to get home in one piece take it out on their partners (invariably women).

Once again Bob you are absolutely correct, but the difference is one action is done under the influence, the other is done by sober people who see no value in an animal once any possible gain has ended.

Are many sportsmen shot dead in this country through gambling?

To be fair lots of the companies on the front of PL shirts are incredibly dodgy and don't really operate here to avoid the regulation you're talking about. Josimar have done a lot of great work into it, I'll post a link to two recent stories but their publication is full of them

  • From the start of next season there will be no betting firms as front of shirt sponsors.

That'll solve it, they'll just end up on the back of shirts.

They'll find ways round it. They already do it in other sports with adding news to the end of their names

If they want to do something good, they should follow the Paddy Power method a few years back and sponsor the team but leave it logo-less. Run the right ad campaign and every time people see a logo-less shirt they'll think of that betting company

Not disagreeing with the alcohol bit but where there is money crime is close by.
