Watch out for events in Moscow this week, with Man Utd and Liverpool playing there on successive nights Tuesday and Wednesday. Great city but not the place to get into aggro, either amongst themselves or against the ultras of the Moscow teams. Hopefully the week passes without incidents there.
  • English football is well and truly back. Spurs destroying Real Madrid and City scoring 4 away to Serie A leaders Napoli. Liverpool cruised to victory to and are also top of their group.

Man U very comfortable too with 4 wins from 4.

Just Chelsea letting the side down although they should still qualify.

Could be some interesting match ups in the next round with the likes of Real, Juve and Bayern all looking like finishing runners up.

Spurs, Man U and Liverpool will get Juve, Real and Bayern and then get knocked out... :-)

Chelsea and City will go through to the quarters and face each other. City will progress and get spanked in the semi final by the eventual winners.

    Odds?
  • Man City are playing a different game to everybody else.

Oh my days. Absolute scenes when the 3rd went in.

Ole'ing every pass after 70 mins 3-0 up against the reigning European Champions...at Wembley where we're supposed to be sh*t?! still hasnt sunk in.

Cant single anyone out, one of the best performances from a Spurs side in my lifetime. Anyone still got any doubts about Harry Winks being in the England Squad?!

Nope none seeing I was one of the more vocal when the last Squad came out ;)
  • I think there is a good chance of English winners this year, City wont be scared of anyone, Tottenham play some excellent football and Man Utd will be a hard team to beat, Chelsea not too sure about and don't fancy Liverpool.
Saying all that, I have lost every week on Beat The Bookie so far this season.
  • Have to admit though... With Bayern Munich currently behind PSG in their Group and Spurs leading theirs... Wonder what the chances are of Bayern having yet another North London opponent in the Last 16!!

Yeah they'll get Bayern and Chelsea will get lucky as runners up and get Besiktas.

City are going to take some beating though, playing the best football in Europe right now

PSG are the ones with the question marks over them... Anderlecht and Celtic were never an issue whilst they faced Bayern Munich right before Anchelotti got sacked who were in a terrible run of form already - that return match will be interesting

  • Hoping Atletico Madrid can pull off the first part of a miracle in the last two games to get through. Really mucked it up over the two last games against Quarabag from Azerbaijan.
  • Fantastic goal by Griezman.

So first eight teams are through tonight:

Group winners: Man U, PSG, Roma, Barcelona (Man City, Besiktas and Spurs to be added tomorrow night)
Group runners-up: Basel, Bayern, Chelsea, Juventus (Real Madrid to be added tomorrow night)

Shame for Chelsea who can only draw Barcelona, PSG or Besiktas in the next round as long as Liverpool win their group. :-)
  • Disappointed for Atletico Madrid who always seem to do things the hard way and are masters of self-sabotage. Only getting two points against the Azerbaijan team Qarabag did it for them in the end. Will probably be favourites for the Europa League now though.
  • Man City and Napoli both lose bet odds on that would have been good
  • About 30/1

In case you don't want to read that silly graphic... England are the first country to have five teams in the CL knockout stage.

  • You just know that City and Liverpool will get tough ties (probably Real and Bayern) but Man Utd will get Porto.

Hope Spurs get a decent draw, they deserve it after dominating a group with Real and Dortmund in it.
  • my draw which id like to see;

    man u vs bayern
    man city vs juventus
    liverpool vs shaktar
    spurs vs basel
    chelsea vs barcelona

would be some good games and would give spurs and liverpool decent chances of going through.

also if the other 3 english sides could win there ties, pretty good chances an english name would be on the trophy, if spurs won i think claude from arsenal fan tv would spontaneously combust
