Was wondering why there were no updates here or on Twitter at 15:29. Decided it must be a quiet game. Then I remembered there is a time difference here in Switzerland. Back to the lake.
All set up for a classic opener to the season - Charlton style.
Couple of signings in the build up (which look good on paper and then turn out to be average at best). Then you arrive at the ground and wait to hear the team announced - only to find that there is always one important player you don't expect to be out injured on the sidelines.
Over optimism in the build up then flattened when people realise we ain't Brazil and our excitement peters away.
Then for the next week we hear that when said injured player comes back it will all be different.
So I forgot to do some really important work. Figured I'd go to the office, have some lunches end o my work, then use my desk to do the commentary (got a hot date in London Bridge tonight anyway).
Sadly, I'm not allowed in the office. I didn't get pre-approval. So I'm sitting on a bench near Old Street pondering my mistakes.
Feel a bit silly missing this now we're 29 for 8 off the first 12 overs. Now relying on @Leuth and @PaddyP17 to drag us to semi-respectability (or else we could still make it for the second half)
Magennis out a big blow but team does look pretty decent that asides esp with the lesser-spotted Kashi in midfield. Head and heart both quietly optimistic for the season
Comments
He seem to tweak his knee in the first half on Saturday but played on. Wondered if it was serious as he was down for a while.
Will be following from the beach in rhodes
Cheers
