Not the best conditions for a football game.

FCC's next match is away to SC Paderborn 07 on Sat 7 Apr. Paderborn have led the league for much if not all of this season, although they were handed one of their rare defeats by a rampant FCC back in October. After the 500km+ journey to Meppen FCC have stayed on in the North-West for the Paderborn game. They will be hoping for better fortune than they enjoyed against Meppen. In a nice gesture last night's kick-off was delayed by 10 minutes as many away fans had been held up in heavy traffic.

SV Meppen 2-1 FCC - revised attendance 5856

Video highlights including FCC refused a blatant penalty

  • No chance for FCC in Paderborn. 3:0 down at HT. Attendance 10000.

    Match-day 33

FCC 3-2 VfR Aalen Att: 4080

    Julian Günter-Schmidt 32' and 60' Firat Sucsuz 69'

FCC's successful home form returns as they reach 40 points and the safety of 14th position.

Next match - a toughie at home to high-flyers 1.FC Magdeburg on Tue 17 Apr

    Match-day 34

    FCC vs 1.FC Magdeburg

Early setbacks for FCC. On 16' and 24' they concede penalties. Both are sunk by Türpitz.

The visitors score a third goal on 35' through Beck, and the match reaches HT at 0-3.

Both the referee's penalty decisions are being hotly contested.

FCC concede an unnecessary corner on 49' from which FCM score a fortuitous fourth.

On 56' FCC pull a goal back through Wolfram. 1-4.

The crowd go into meltdown when the officials fail to spot a clear FCM offside. What happens then on 60'? Unbelievably FCM's chief thespian Costly wins a third penalty, duly put away by Türpitz. 1-5.

The referee has lost control. A blatant FCM foul is missed but is finally punished by the Jena captain against his opposite number. The penalty king is substituted - he'll be a brave man to collect the match ball ....

FCM substitute two more of their villains. The match is beginning to peter out as FCM keep possession.

Attendance second only to the Erfurt derby match - 8194. FCM sold out their 820 allocation almost immediately.

Final score 1-5. FCC's match report should be quite something.

  • Again a top team seems to be too strong for FCC. But the third league status for the next season is secured.

  • Special bonus video from the FCC-FCM match

Already down 0-3 in 53 mins, FCC begin an insane quasi goal celebration and for the only time in a crazy match, and by sheer coincidence, FCC score!!

FCC have kicked off away to SV Werder Bremen II.

The Bundesliga ressos recently completed a 28-match winless streak involving four different coaches. FCC are trying to instil some consistency and above all defensive solidity after conceding 13 goals in the last three games. They have won away only once this season, in August!!

So naturally Bremen opened the scoring after 10'. And scored again on 45+1'. H-T 2-0.

Note: regular readers of this thread will wish @MadGerman good luck - tomorrow he runs in the Enschede full marathon, hopefully in cooler weather.

.... 2nd half. FCC make two changes. Bremen 2-0 FCC

50' Manfred Starke unstoppable shot from 25m. 2-1

53' Jo Coppens (FCC goalie) launches a huge clearance, catches his opponent out of position - and SCORES!! 2-2

A high-tempo game now with chances at each end - only better shooting required

71' FCC bring on their last sub - the coach is seldom slow to make changes

72' Timmy Thiele for FCC - now 2-3 to the Jenaers!!

84' Maximilian Wolfram for FCC - they went hunting a fourth and got it!! 2-4

    FT 2-4

    4-2 and even Coppens scored!!

  • They have had a decent season. It can happen, when you have a system such as 50 plus 1, which keeps people like Roland firmly in their boxes.

Match-day 38, the last 3. Liga game of the season

    Karlsruhe SC 2-3 FCC!!
Incredibly FCC's third consecutive away win. KSC's first home loss but they were already confirmed as 3rd in the table, and will enter the play-offs in a few days. Fully deserved win by FCC who also missed many chances. Att 14436, with approx 800 from Jena. W14 D10 L14 GF49 GA59- GD10- Pts52 Pos 11th

FCC's last match of the season

Thuringia Cup Final (eq. Kent Senior Cup)

    FCC 5-0 BSG Wismut Gera

2134 (400 Jenaers) attended at the stadium of Rot-Weiß Erfurt. Some FCCers may have been deterred by the match's location at their hated local rivals, fearful of ambush.

    Thiele 14' and 36', Wolfram 59' and 79', and Eckardt 84'

  • Will you be re-running this thread for the 2018/19 season for Carl Zeiss Jena @GlassHalfFull?

Notice they've had a good start to their season winning two and drawing / losing one - One of those wins coming against the team currently top

  • Is there much interest? With CAFC expected to be an ex-member of the RD network there ceases to be a direct connection.

Having said that I still follow FCC match by match and I'm happy to continue the reports, albeit that the video match reports seem harder to find this season.

    Any thoughts?

For me personally I've sort of adopted FCC as my German side due to the links that RD unfortunately created

Dont know if others share the same interest though as following them will be a reminder of what he did here

  • Perhaps we can have a broader discussion, focusing mainly on FCC but also including other items of interest in German football, hopefully with good input from German Addicks.

    I'll start preparing something.
