Really lovely guy. Felt extremely humbled to be given the opportunity to write it and interview him.
Unfortunately due to his age and condition, he was unable to reveal too much more, but he was full of spirit and it was a pleasure to be in his company.

He and my dad were best mates many moons ago. He was known as Wally Turner. Met him a couple of times, really nice bloke. Came to my dad's funeral in 1985. Good to hear he's still going strong at 95.
My neighbour in the Covered End tells me that his mother, now well into her nineties, used to go dancing with Arthur Turner just after the War. Is he the last surviving member of our cup-winning team?

No, as he didn't play in 1947.
He is, we believe, the oldest living FA Cup finalist.
Met him maybe 28 years ago in Turners builders merchants in Canning Town. My son had his Charlton shirt on the guy serving me said if you come back later my uncle will be here he played in cup final for Charlton . I went back and met the man.
