But are the ground improvements really upgrades that would impact the value, or are they just part of what should have been a regular ongoing maintenance programme?

What’s fish here? A genuine takeover update:

    According to NewsShopper:

    - Club expected to be sold for £35m.

    - If it doesn’t happen RD to reluctantly consider appointing senior management staff.

    - RD wanted to lease The Valley but only 3 of the 7 former directors agreed.

My guess would be Richard Murray, Maurice Hatter and maybe David Sumner. Think the first two fairly strong odds on. Apologies to David and the other two if I'm wrong.
You’re wrong. I doubt this is accurate but Dave Hughes is probably the most likely to fall in with RM after MH by process of elimination.

This is all a bit of a red herring since RD could buy out the four of them for the cost of Naby Sarr if he had the opportunity to lease the ground.

Sorry to talk about the takeover, but the Newshopper reckons the sale price is @£35M.

Seems a lot but then again under half of what his experiment has cost RD
I did a rough calculation months ago.
When you add in the ground & training ground improvements, plus increase in the freehold values and bearing in mind he possibly got Charlton cheapish, it's a bit top heavy, but just about a realistic price.
I guess the increase in Prem TV money comes into it to an extent. There's a much bigger potential reward on offer compared to when RD bought the club.

I doubt even MH has agreed. I think only one has agreed and that one thinks he speak for the other two.

Some idiot put it out there that 'it's happening' this week, and not a squeak has been heard since.

So obviously it'll happen tomorrow when I'm at the Chelsea flounder Show where no doubt the 4G will be agonisingly slow.

@Covered End is at a test match. Anyone else anywhere unusual? I'm just fishing here....

So the news reports that Duchatelet may be obliged to appoint staff to run the gaff.
Here comes the player sales, and here comes a beaming smile on Cojones face.

And then RD could have insisted that one sat on the board to help look after the landlord’s interests, no doubt.

Quite a worrying line that. Is there a real danger that this deal still falls through?

Very mixed signals at the mo.

On one hand hints it could be today / coming days

On the other hand suggestion RD may have to appoint staff, which would suggest the opposite

FFS you lot. That line isn’t ground breaking, it’s just stating the bloody obvious. Any deal can fall through until finalised and IF it did of course RD would HAVE to make appointments.

When the Takeover goes through, hopefully soon and this thread is over it will be the best thing to happen on the Charlton Life forum. So much false info and so many awful comedians that are just not funny. Hurry @efl get this done.

I wonder at what point RD will feel he has to act and appoint staff?

Currently, the first pre-season friendly is on 7th July. Therefore you have to assume that the players report back for pre-season on Monday 2nd July?

Would he appoint staff a week prior to this i.e. end of June? Or would he carry on hoping it goes through well into pre-season, and then potentially have to appoint staff only a week or two before the start of the season?

35mil seems a lot for a League 1 club that needs work, but its still only about 1/6 of Neymar.

Think you have to remember football has moved on and as the figures for the Premier League clubs show, the reward to get there will tempt people and also make clubs like ourselves more valuable.

    I've heard nothing at all.

And before anyone says that I said it would be this week, it was only what my person said, and I urged caution at the time I posted the info here.

Could still be this week of course.

It's looking fairly binary at the moment.

    Either,

    Takeover announced: total joy

Takeover falls through (i.e starting next season with RD in charge): total despair

All we can do is wait. It's not like we haven't had lots of practice at that, is it?

The suggestion that Duchatelet may appoint staff along with the fact that he got arsey with the ROT guys handing out leaflets in StTruiden makes me think that in his mind at least there is still a way to go.
I really hope my gut is wrong.
