There’s a lot of conclusion jumping here I’d all just chill out a bit
What he said.
We don't know who the money is behind McLeish or even if he is really fronting a bid.
Yes, we're in uncertain times but don't get the total negatively about the unknown.
It could be McLeish is fronting mega rich Arabs or quite rich South Africans?
Que Sera Sera
Iv had two texts last night, one saying Kuwait and one saying South Africans so funny you say that and they both mentioned Muir ... that was just before the game.
All the Cawley Photo proves is that McLeish was in the Directors box last night (and the night before) BUT there are other unidentified people there too.
Its only because we recognise McLeish that we focus on him.
Also in the Daily Record story it states that there are only 2 parties involved, one of which is Australian. Now we know that there were at least 3 and that the Aussie are rumoured to have dropped out leaving 2 parties left:
The party that @Redhenry is excited about and alluded too and the Party that involves someone who Roland trusts (i think we can assume safely that this is the Mcleish Party)
So the article itself is based upon old information. Until i see a Cawley article about it which has proper facts and quotes and proper research done, i won;t panic.
Nothing has been confirmed yet, only rumoured, WIOTOS and all that
But i know it's hard to keep calm because (see below)...
You'd hope Donald Muir wouldn't pass the fit and proper persons test after what he did to Rangers
Why, what has he done in the past which would make him fail?
I am not particularly aware of the Rangers situation but have not seen anything to suggest he did anything illegal. I may be very wrong but if you are bought in by a bank as a recovery specialist to get their money back I dare say you make as many cuts as possible and find the person who will give you the biggest amount of money to buy the club. Sadly, in business you are likely to do this in a dispassionate, unemotional way. The fans will hate you, even more if you are seen as a fan yourself that is doing it. But really you are just doing your job. There may be more to the storey but frankly I don’t blame Varney for the spivs, it was Hobson choice, take them or go bust. The situation in Rangers may well have been the same.
From No one and no where is there evidence that Muir and McLeish have the 50 mil that Roland wants to sell the club , from what I heard they are the front for others and just looking at the state of play, on the pitch and what the main issues are off it
It’s all part of being diligent
The biggest problem now is that unless the buyers are super minted or Refbull they ain’t going to be good enough
Back page of the record paper over in Scotland also.
Says the Australians are the others in, I asked whether that was guesswork and my man in the know there says he doesn't think so - reckons they knew.
Sorry if this has all been covered - not read the past 200 posts :- )
Hasn't it already been confirmed by some on here that are 'in the know' that the Aussies dropped out?
Apologies if i'm wrong, so many posts on this thread i've just skim-read them.
I thought they were gone, why I questioned whether it was guesswork but he reckoned not. May have been as simple as them asking Alex if they knew the others in it and he said Australians.. wouldn't take it as gospel.
What we know 100% from it is that McLeish is heading a bid - and when mentioned the position of Director of Football, it seemed likely that would be his role if they were to be successful.

I disagree, the owners who took us to the Premier league were not minted in today’s terms. What we need is caring, sensible football people with good business sense, willing to invest wisely and cost effectively. Buying success is one thing, long term stability and growth better IMO.

But why would potential buyers use McLeish/Muir for that? Without disrespect to either, it seems an odd choice.
All I can say is that KR had better sort out the team asap because what McLeish has seen over the last 2 games has been pretty dire & on that evidence he could well say that we are a lost cause & miles away from achieving anything.

Must be a coincidence that I mentioned those two then. Or maybe not ; - )
Would make sense as KR is highly thought of in the football world so having that experienced head to help him at times would be good.
Obviously Muir is slightly despised by Rangers fans but obviously we cant judge until if he ever gets into that position.
I know some people will disagree and that fine (as this is what the forums are for) but I do feel a bit sorry for KR, yes he opens his mouth a little too often where as most managers stay silent with these sort of things.
At the end of the day he is an employee who is, due to things out of his control, isn't able to do his job properly and like most employees he will voice his frustrations to people who will listen. He was promised fund to help the war effort and with a takeover impending, every penny will be accounted for and he wont get a sniff.
Yes, the team should be playing a lot better but I cant help but think morale is lower than slug shit and the players are distracted with all this takeover talk.
IMO sell Holmes as I think he doesn't want to be here anymore as I expect he was promised we would be challenging for automatic promotion, Try keep Konsa but if we end up selling try have him loaned back for the rest of the season.

D. Muir is an international finance person. If they asked him to find a football person to have a look at the club it makes sense that he'd ask his life long friend and international football manager Alex McLeish who has won trophies in Scotland and England as a manager and was part of the very successful Aberdeen side of the 70s and 80s as a player under Fergie. I don't see it as an add choice at all. He's got a more impressive CV than any Charlton manager under Roland (including SCP).
OR maybe we've got this all the wrong way round. Maybe Muir and McLeish see the potential in Charlton, think it can be turned around (Muir's area of expertise) and so are putting together a prospectus to present to financial big hitters that they can access via D Muir. Maybe there are no buyers behind M & M yet.
As I wrote when Duchatelet took over the Chinese word for change is made up of two other Chinese words "opportunity" and "risk".
Four years on we are back at the same point again.

Simply that if I was an Australian or Arab money man I think I would be most unlikely to commission these two gentleman to run their eye over the club for me. If I was a British/Scottish money man it might be a different view.
Let’s not get too excited by all of this. Gold and Sullivan pitched up in the Directors Box about 7 years ago prompting huge speculation but they never bought us. A couple of weeks later, they were warming seats at Upton Park

Wouldn't it make more sense for an Arab or South African buyer to use Brits to review a British purchase?
If any of us where buying a house in France would we speak to our local estate agent or find a French agency? Which would we trust to know more about the local rules, market, issues, etc?
I don't know what all the connections are or who is with who doing what.
I do think McLeish and D Muir are a huge step up from Fraeye, Driesen and Meire.

Calm down everyone - too many people here adding two and two together and making five.

More interested in who he is involved with now as I really don’t want another ‘fronter’ a la Jimenez / Slater supported by an unknown money man.
Yes that is Mark McGhee.
(Apologies if it's been posted already).
