Not sure on the story but it is a good way to start the working week of the prospect that Duchatelet wants to lower the price & sell up as soon as possible.
Well well, that is interesting. If true, it reveals even more of Daisy's character. She's been given all this protection and privilege by Roland and then she goes and dumps him just like that.

All I heard was DD is complete with the aussies and they are ready to go. One other concrete bid but DD not taken place yet. Familiar face(s)
In theory could the 2nd party buy the Aussies DD? Or could that only happen if the Aussies had pulled out if the deal altogether?
I’ve wondered this. If DD was carried out by Mischon (so) they it’s safe to assume it’s been thorough and has uncovered anything it needs to. You’d think it would be possible to use the same info but I suspect there’s something in law that prohibits it.
Mischon work for Roland not the buyers as I understand it.
I know lawyers (and accountants) can do any job ;-) but wouldn't DDs be primarily an accountancy area ?
I assume Muir & Co had their own accountants and lawyers doing the DD.
Mischon will have put together a buyers pack with Meire and Joyes' which the buyers accountants then checked.
Hence the 34 issues found.
Assuming all 34 have been resolved then it is down to the price. If RD was, if we believe the newshopper, asking £50m but will now take the proverbial haircut then it could be done very quickly.
Or RD hopes the other parties will stump up £50m so is hanging on for them to complete DD ( quicker as Micshon now know the 34 issues now).
Is an Aussie bird in the hand worth two in a British/Swiss/Chinese/whoever bush?

I'm an accountant but have never been involved in or know much about due diligence. What I do know is that it's the potential buyers oppurtunity to check the finances, contracts etc of whoever they are looking to buy. The buyer will have a contract/engagement letter with the accountants they ask to do the DD. I would think that using another buyers DD is extremely unlikely, if not impossible. 1 because the other buyer will not want to give a competitor help and 2 the buyer will have clauses with the DD firm to ensure they are covered if they don't do their job properly. As others have said it may speed the job up however, but think seperate DD is needed for each buyer.

Charlton was too small for her.
Charlton was too toxic for her and made gloriously so by all those vinegar pissers in black and white scarves - great branding concept that ; - )

That story is pretty much correct, I think.
Wow. It is generally hard to work out which of KM and RD is the more deluded. Each bring their individual uniqueness. Astounding, really.

The comment that Charlton fans 'could even get their wish before the end of the season' (i.e. the sale) indicates it may be months rather than days/weeks.
Whilst I'd love it to happen sooner end of the season is fine provided we don't go down and RD is gone completely (including no interest in the Valley, training ground etc.)
Roland Duchatelet is prepared to lower his asking price for Charlton.
The Belgian tycoon has been in talks with several interested parties over selling the League One club.
News Shopper has been told that his original asking price - a staggering £50m - is never going to be met and he is willing to accept a lower fee.
It is understood that the unexpected departure of countrywoman Katrien Meire, who resigned as chief executive to take up the same role at Sheffield Wednesday, has stunned Duchatelet.
Meire was Duchatelet’s link between Belgium and England where she regularly reported to him on business and football matters.
The Belgian lawyer’s departure has only reiterated the 71-year-old’s desire to leave English football - and News Shopper understands he now wants to sell-up as soon as possible.

Duchatelet paid around £20m for Charlton in January 2014 and instantly made himself unpopular after sacking Addicks legend Chris Powell.
He has presided over the sales of important first-teamers such as Yann Kermorgant, Dale Stephens and Johann Berg Gudmundsson, while flogging off young stars Joe Gomez and Ademola Lookman.
Duchatelet’s biggest failure has been the club’s relegation from the Championship in 2016, which heavily impacted attendances.
Charlton fans are desperate to see the back of Duchatelet, who sold Sint-Truiden last December, and could even get their wish before the end of the season.
It is understood that the unexpected departure of countrywoman Katrien Meire, who resigned as chief executive to take up the same role at Sheffield Wednesday, has stunned Duchatelet.

I had heard, recently, that she resigned as she had got herself another position, but I couldn't say anything, the article seems to back this up. So if RD is now willing to drop his price and get out, that has to be a good thing in my opinion. He wants out and sooner rather than later, his experiment has failed and he has lost his 'oppo', and now, after recent results, he must be thinking, get out and get out now, before he losses even more money? Please God!!

"Charlton fans could even get their wish before the end of the season".
Too late. We need the takeover now to stop this season going right down the toilet.
PS - Having said that, I'd rather wait til the end of the season and get Varney, if that's what it takes.

A dd would normally consist of legal and financial/tax, as a minimum. The financial position of a football club is heavily dependent on the legal agreements around the playing staff (both current and former) so I would say the legal dd is the more important one in this case.
PS I’m an accountant so have no personal desire to admit this!
I think the fact DJ was leaving made most think it’s over but we were mistaken I think this is a long way from being over
I think it shows that RD thought it was done and so he allowed KM and DJ to find other jobs.
Only it wasn't so he's now having run a business with Keohane as the only senior manager employed at the Valley.
In other words he's mismanaged the end of his ownership just as badly as he did the start and all the bits in-between.
It would be funny if it wasn't our football club being run like a circus.
Can't see it. She owes Roland everything. If he F**** up she would just hang around. He'd see her right.
It's either done or he has had a big bust up with her imo.
I've got a feeling they had a bust up an all. She's always been too loyal to him to jack (at whatever stage a possible take over was at) and I'm sure Sheff Weds woulda waited a while longer to fill such an important position.

He will have found her resigning very difficult to swallow. Hence the takeover had to be presented publicly as the context, when he has shown no previous inclination to communicate with fans about it.
I hope to God whoever buys this club sends Murray away on day one. To keep him here for yet another ownership tangle would be like having the smell of pooh on your shoe following you around after previously wiping it off.
As a newer fan, for me when I think of Murray, I think of that first video release by the club where he said "we will no longer have to sell young players, early" and for his dreadful performances at fan meetings, which are also on YouTube. He was a true believer of RD and KR, early, and stuck by them and I want nothing to do with him.
If he remains in ANY fashion at CAFC after Rolly sells, my excitement over a takeover will be diminished at least a little and possibly more. It will also make me wonder about how much new owners are aware of fan's feelings about the RD regime and those who enabled it.
I'm assuming in your second paragraph you mean RD and KM.

'Countrywoman'.
Reminded me of the old 'countryside' joke.
Reminded me of the Kenny Everett sketch where he said "I am a country member..."
Think Katie was desperate to remain in the football industry. She courted jobs in football administration and when the opportunity to take a CEO job came up she took the chance in the full knowledge that her reign at The Valley was at some point over the next few months was going to end.
The suggestion that Duchâtelet was “stunned” is believable as I’m sure that KM would have been absorbed into his Staprix Death Star when the curtain finally comes down on his experiment.
I’m certain that losing his trusted captain will have expedited his desire to get rid of the club as there is now nobody at The Valley he can fully trust.
My fear is that he’s now going to jump at the first group with the necessary cash which might not be the best long term buyer for the football club. With Murray now with even more influence I am not convinced that he (Murray) won’t steer RD towards whatever bid suits him best.
I really do hope that whichever consortium eventually wins out are the owners we want them to be but I also have a nagging feeling that whoever takes control there might be a feeling of what might have been.
